HL King Tiger 3 year transformation
Re: HL King Tiger 3 year transformation
Here we go:
I painted it with Alfashirt spray paint (Dunkelgelb):
Originally I wanted to do a 3 color paintjob, but it didn't quite work because spray paints are too thick so there are edges.
It turned out really nice for the very first try though!

But it wasn't to my satisfaction so I decided to just do a desert camo, as I didn't have money for an airbrush (still).
So I painted it again... the 3 layers of paint were almost too thick...
I had also learned how to chip and weather correctly in the meantime so I went right to work.
And I was really damn proud of my work after that step if I may say so! No comparison to the many masterpieces on here, but still.

Re: HL King Tiger 3 year transformation
After some time I decided that the tank was a little naked. So I started modifying and adding cosmetics.
I decided not to pay too much attention to historical accuracy,
Everything besides the ropes themselves is 3D - printed (bought in various shops).
My tank is now equipped with a steel gearbox (would like to replace that with 'Spiegel gearboxes' (no idea if he sells these things outside Germany as well), but they cost around 200 €... dreaming isn't prohibited though
) and an IBU2 Ultimate Base, also a big speaker (could be louder) and a smoke unit. It's pretty cramped as you can see.

Then I wanted to give it a proper display.
The showcase is handmade by a German company, the board underneath is self-made.
I started to replace the plastic tools with high quality ones.
(The T-34/85 was given to me by a very kind neighbor)

Well, here's the last bunch of pics, this time high quality:
And that's the current state and final image (just had to add LEDs...):

Very nicely done, Melmondt. A painstaking labor of love which comes through to all who see it loud and clear. Nicely presented. A work to be proud of. Highest compliments!

Beautiful tank! Now it’s time for a video.
Re: HL King Tiger 3 year transformation
Thanks for the compliments! I appreciate it.
Well, I didn't make a video so far. Maybe I will some day.
