A sensored brushless can and programmable esc conbo will give you a any trick power curve you can dream of. Absolutely no dead bands either. Not cheap but if you want the best, that's a way to go. However, a good brushed motor should be good enough for a good tank. Trouble is, good brushed motors only seem to exist in 540 size. Expect to pay from £40 for a quality brushed 540 and around £200 for a sensored brushless combo - X2 if you need s pair!

Spending that much on my brushless motors and ESCs would kinda negate the savings I was going to have using the TCB... :) I was looking for a cheaper brushless system. After buying 3 different types of cheap ESCs for brushless testing, the project got shelved for a while.

Thank you all for your comments. I'll prefer to stick with 7.2v brushed motors rather than start to employ different power sources and extra electronics. I'll research some more.

Incidentally, Eric at Taigen advised that the details of the Chinese motors were not shared with him.
