Yes ! Panzer from now on. Daijarndice wrote:You will make me very unhappy if you continue using the Title of "Panther V" when iyou are referring to the Panzer 1V (4).
The Panther v is a completely different Tank,The Panzer 4 was introduced into service before the start of WW2 and continued in production until the end of WW2 whereas the PantherV although it carries a type number lower than the Tiger 1 (TypeV1 -6) it was not produced (January 1943)until after the Tiger1 (July 1942) was introduced,

Re: Taigen Panzer IV F2
Out of all my RC tank, I like my Torro Panzer 4 the most, this basically Taigen with different painting ,it have good detail, not to big, and IR recoil not nasty like Tiger 1, however like Jarndice mention before the suspension is not the best, and Heng Long TK6 board is much better than Taigen V3 board.
I will go with Winter panzer 4 + Winter track. I believe Erick will be happy to swap it for you if you buy it direct from Imex Taigen.

Good morning,
Do a little parts interchange and electronics overhaul ( and add on details, lots of details ) to achieve a realistic appearance and solid performance. The Panzer IV in all versions really lends itself to kit bashing and detailing. I used the Taigen suspension on a Heng Long lower hull and was able to get decent suspension capabilities with just a little modification. My Desert PzIV is my pride and joy right now.
regards,
Painless

Re: Taigen Panzer IV F2
Loving the Panzers. I know Dia from another forum. HI Dai! He actually inspired me to buy a tank. I couldn't find a Panzer IV for sale so I settled for a Heng Long Panzer III which I am in the process of upgrading with new tracks, clark 40 board and cannon flash and smoke. Just waiting for all the parts to show up. Really love the early DAK Panzers III and the Normandy front Panzer IVs late models

How is winter track differ from regular tracks. I do not plan to run it in snow so will the winter track degrade performance or reason for having it is for accuracy? Re: Taigen Panzer IV F2
if you really want to try a challenging build, then the Trumpeter Pz IV Ausf H has the correct detail credentials (engine deck slope, return roller position- etc..)
I started a thread a while back comparing design details of the real Panzer IV with various commercial model versions of it. Of course, details also vary with iterations of the real Panzer IV- but there are features common to all that it's important (for some of us
) to get right. Tamiya comes out tops, but Taigen is gradually improving the look of its model- especially the one sporting the latest version of the turret. Here's the thread:

The Trumpeter model would provide an accurate shell; you'd then have to fit Taigen internal components and running gear. This would produce a model with Tamiya grade accuracy, but without the expense. Even so, it still would be way more expensive and time consuming than a RTR model; but lots more fun- and a massive 'learning curve'

Of cause if you have winter painting then winter track is a must or it will looks out of place, just beware that winter track most-likely not painted, I just dunk it in Tamiya panel wash paint it become gunmetal colour, or you can paint or use metal blueing, since I have panel wash laying I try it and its look nice (maybe if its brown panel wash look better) .dai phan wrote:How is winter track differ from regular tracks. you can see whats the winter paint looks like in Gary video below ,

In terms of performance I don't notice any different, Torro/Taigen Panzer 4 is to fast anyway in my opinion ,that's why I like HengLong board better as it have low and high speed, one thing I notice because normal track are narrow you will have some difficult in soft sand and tall grass , this happen alot in my Sherman , while I never have this problem with my Panzer 4 with winter track.

The Panzer 4 pretty much defined the Medium Tank until the advent of the Soviet T34 and the German Army PantherV,
The first time I saw them in the same hall at the Bovington Tank Museum if I did not know that they were all designated "Medium" Tank I would have classed the T34 and the Panther as Heavy's because they are massive in comparison which actually says a lot for the PZ4 which instead of being superseded continued to evolve right up to the end of the Conflict with the economy model Ausf "J",
The T34/85 continued in production post war to a grand total of 80,000 Tanks of all versions,
But apart from a few French built Panthers thar served with the post war French Army and a dozen German Panther Vs built for the British at the end of WW2 primarily to give the civilians something to do although the finished product did mostly come to the UK where too many unfortunately ended up as targets on various gunnery ranges that was the end of the PantherV whereas the Panzer 4 served with a number of Armies after the war,
The last major conflict which saw them in service was when they were part of the Syrian Armies "Main Force" that attacked Israel in concert with other Arab nations in 1967,
The Israeli Shermans came off second best to the PZ4s when they were far too rarely properly handled but they stood no chance against the Israeli Centurions.
And so a Tank that was in nonstop production from before the start of WW2 to its end and consistantly punched above its weight and was probably the most adaptable Tank in the German Wartime arsenal finally ended its days as a Museum piece.
