Good Afternoon,
I can heartily recommend Model Masters Olive Drab in the rattlecan. #FS1911 I've used it for years in conjunction with Model Masters Enamel Flats. The results are amazingly realistic looking.
regards,
Painless

"all varying shades of olive drab" , thats exactly the point. Everyone uses a slightly different shade of olive drab because olive drab varies so much from one vehicle to another. Be it the age of the vehicle, the different weathering its been subjected too, or just the official batch variation.
Tamiya, Humbrol, Testors, Vallejo, etc, its whichever brand suits your painting style. I think that you just have to choose a "green" that you will be satisfied with. :problem:
cheers

I am sure that I am not the only member of the Forum who deliberately chooses a different paint makers colour for models representing different Nations Armed Forces even though the colour is described as the same because quite simply it is not.
If you have ever seen Belgium, British, Dutch and German Army vehicles adjacent one to the other each in their own country's "Matt Green" you would immediately notice the difference between each one of them although at a distance it becomes much harder to notice that difference.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Sure, it seems British tanks have different shade than US but anyway according to Mr Zaloga's arcicle "real" Olive Drab never had green tint only brown... But my Oddball's Sherman is green as in the movie :P

Oh no, this thread is giving me a headache.

You mean to say, I need a different olive drab for my British Sherman's, and the Tamiya rattle cans I purchased are the wrong shade :'(

Your Tamiya cans are fine if you are using them on British Armour but you might want to use Vallejo or Humbrol on American Armour or vise versa.
Otherwise they will all look the same :O :haha:

Hmmm, thanks Shaun. I got Frankie to paint the lads for me so that he didn't have to wait till old age to use his tank, that's an American version, and I think Frankie used Tamiya paints.
Now the question is, am I bovvered, or am I bothered
