Good progress Louis.

I have a British WD (war department) stamped and wartime dated Jerry can. You are correct, they blatantly copied it :)

You did a great job here, again. It is enjoyable to observe what you make from somewhat simple and dimensionally wrong toys:

Nice progress, good build and well done for moving the front axle forward. We have built one our selves and it makes for a good Jeep with a few details and updates

Hi,

Continuing with the transformation into a SAS LRDG Jeep.

Famous picture showing a series of SAS Jeeps with the various configurations of armament, but the rest is typical and consistent.
- 15 Jerrycans, 5 fuel on hood, 2 water on sides and 8 fuel on 2 racks in the back.
- 6 engine grill bars cut for extra radiator ventilation and cooling
- Condenser container can at the front
- Vickers GO (Gas Operated) type K machine guns in single and/or twin mount
- Aircraft M2 machine gun (on the Jeep in the background)
- 2 spare tires at the back
- Tools are removed
- No windshield
- No horn or night light on front fenders

The container used for the condenser show variations in position and size. What is consistent are the seams (top, bottom and across), 2 brackets around the container top and bottom, mounting on the left side of the engine grill and a tube going loosely into the area of the bottom of the radiator.

I selected a 14mm diameter plasticard tube for the condenser (the smaller version) but i think a tube up to 16mm would be realistic.

And mounted on the left side of the radiator. Notice that the Jeep front grill bars can be easily cut for a realistic representation. I am grateful that the model included a realistic radiator part in the background.

A total of sixteen 1/10 scale German Jerrycans (the Jerries' can, captured in Benghazi) were purchased on eBay Germany and Czech republic, and assembled. They end up costing more than the RC vehicle itself...

The seats are pretty good. Just need some cleanup of the seams on the mounts and the ejection pins at the back, and the addition of the attachment points for the seat fabric. Noticed the pre-drilled hole on the floor for the machine gun mount. I assume the designer originally wanted the Jeep to be armed but they ended up plugging the hole with a plastic part.

The dashboard need to be cleaned up and reworked a bit, including removal of the windshield brackets, glove compartment made flat, some features added on the left of the wheel but the layout and position of the dials are really good. The driving wheel bar is way too thick but i decided to leave it for now. Making it thinner would make it weak and easily break.

Just for information the black and white photograph is actually David Stirling with the SAS jeeps, who were the main users. The LRDG mainly used Chevrolet trucks.
