Hi Mick. I've used sealed bearings for years on race cars and if you use the type that have special low friction plastic caps you don't find any moisture or friction issues. If you are running them as tank wheel bearings they will only be turning at low speeds so dynamic flexing forces are low even if ride weights are greater. They are cheapish so give them a try?

Tom, l use them on my RC power boats and the water ingression is so low at the prop shafts that l find them fine to use.

Is this another one of those common language things? Do the British refer to bushings as bushes? Not trying to be a smart-ass, this is a serious question.

Two and just for fun. The first is a 1/32 scale Vosper fire tender, a 1957 U2 battery powered pond boat, gutted, with added interior and external detail and crew, now radio controlled with full sound, twin brushless motors / ESC combos, futaba radio gear and single deep but slim rudder, moving crew members and cranes, with bilge pump. The last item is not because of leaky bearings but simply because it spends a lot of time semi submerged!!

The second is a larger 1/32 scale ocean going yacht, rather like a big Princes power boat. Again, the hull was gutted, then lots of saucy 'crew' were added, then a large pair of brushless motor / ESC combos with surface piercing props etc etc. Getting the trim correct took some time but it now rockets along VERY loudly! Very antisocial when used on a quiet park model boat lake but then that's just me

I'm getting too old to paddle in and out to retrieve them.
