As to refitting the Sherman I think that if you are trying to do it on the cheap you might give a thought to a Taigen V3 MFU/Sound Module/Speaker all cables and a new transmitter including instructions all in one package for about £70 again from Dave.
The advantage of fitting the Taigen V3 system is that with no extra fittings you can use an aftermarket transmitter/Receiver.
Damn that sucks... I hope you've managed to somehow get it back? Surely thats not legal..
I'll look into that bundle thanks very much

Second. Welcome
Wow! Thank you very much, how much would you like for it? I'm sure it'll fit right in

If you look within your battery compartment, do you have something that has a number on it, like 01, because depending on whether you do or don't, will let us know one of the two possible Tx's you'll need.
Sadly any electronics you purchase as a whole package will be from about the same price your tank was originally, to easily twice or three times what the whole tank cost.
But I'm sure you can get just the transmitter for under £20
Okay, firstly thanks for your help
Secondly, Opening the battery tray im greeted with a bunch of stickers, so i'll try my best to describe them and what they say!
There's a little yellow and black tab which is connected to some sort of metal part with the words "03 RX"
Then there's a large white sticker with the number "2014" and "5" ticked across a row of 12 numbers.
Then there's a small "QC 8" sticker.
And finally it isn't a sticker but moulded into the plastic is the word "SC 7.2V" which I assume is saying the tank takes a 7.2v batt
Can you make anything out of it?
Many thanks

Yep, that "03 RX" means that that is the 03 Crystal for the receiver, which also means you need the second generation transmitter.
If you didn't have that crystal or provision to fit one, your tank would have been an older version.
If you did decide to get a transmitter, you need one that takes a crystal. You will also need a matched pair of crystals.

You just made a lot of people feel even older
The evolution of R/C began with Crystals because certain minerals can be adjusted to hold a particular frequency without the help of what at the time had not been invented, Integrated circuit boards and the silicone chip,
The hobby has moved on a little since then and the days of firing up your model aircraft and switching on your transmitter and taking your pride and joy for its first flight only to see it go crazy because another transmitter had locked on and was now trying to fly two aircraft at the same time,
Thank goodness for Digital and limitless available channels.

Oh wow I see, I'm glad to venture into the hobby now instead of then!
Could you link a tx that would work with my rx03 receiver in my m41a3?
Many thanks

The 03 is just the crystal with the third band on the limited number of available slots within the 27mhz frequency.
By you having one of those crystals of any number, means you just need a Heng Long transmitter that takes a crystal. Then you need a pair of crystals, as you lost the one in your old transmitter when you lost the transmitter.

So I need to buy a 27mhz tx and a pair of crystals. Are crystals all the same like size wise?

First you need a dealer who still sells Crystals, Dave used to, Right now the only source I know of is ---
www.rctank.de/ACCESSORIES_6_s2
Dom at RC Tank is a great guy and very helpful and his site is another place to buy Taigen Tanks and he has a gazillion of upgrades available.
Worth putting
www.rctank.de/ on your favourites list
The Crystals are marked TX for Transmitter and RX which means in the case of a Heng Long 27Mhz Tank the Control Board or MFU,
Just in case you don't know the Heng Long and Pre V2/V3 Taigen Tanks had a closed r/c system,
The receiver is an integral part of the MFU/Control Board and the transmitter only works with Heng Long/Taigen Tanks,
Other aftermarket transmitters/Receivers don't work with them.
