My girlfriend bought some of this UV glue and gave it to me. I have yet to try it on anything. It's still sitting in the package in a drawer in my hobby room. Maybe I should test it out...

The best glue I ran into is Ruderer L530. Cheap as chips, and glues/welds ABS and Styrene together extremely well.

@Exhibitedbrute, that's a lovely offer. I think for now while I'm starting out I'll stick with the Airsoft unit. But who knows what the next few months hold in store

I am currently building in 3D printing an amx50 totally made of ABS. The best bonding result I have obtained is with ABS juice, ABS mixture and acetone. It may be worth trying in your case ...

It is perfectly possible to glue the green ABS heng long tank plastic to styrene sheet VERY successfully if you use the right glue.
As mentioned above you need a glue that is both ABS AND STYRENE compliant then BOTH plastics are melted and weld together to give a very strong bond.
This is what i use, its VERY aggresive on styrene sheet and melts both together so try not to spill any on it if so let it dry THEN sand it off, the glass jar has a brush in it for application.
It also smells very strong when used for a short time.

dont bother with the UVA glue, it only forms on the surface of the part in a blob and hardens, no strength at all i have tried some and its VERY expensive.

Just tried it on the yellow Heng long plastic to styrene sheet and yep melts that too, both fused together.

I know that when I "glue" styrene to ABS hulls, I use gel CA or thick epoxy. However I also make sure to rough up the mating surfaces with sandpaper to ensure that there are grooves/rough surfaces for the adhesive to get caught in and make a secure hold.

I've tanks which have a couple years of battles in them that are entirely done up this method. (My son's 2017 JP).


The beginnings. 2 part epoxy to weld down the main brace and floor plate. (Front motor mount has a floor of 2 part epoxy for securing the motors very well).


More floor boards and braces/mounts added via 2-part epoxy (All mating surfaces have been sanded with 80-100 grit)


Gel CA for the smaller (non-load bearing spots) and an aluminum cross brace 1/2 way down the hull.

This lower hull was retired late 2019 as the rear idlers finally started to wear out (bow) from the metal tracks.
