With the logs keeping in mind where you have to put you stowage boxes and ice things I would go on the drivers side rear but with logs it’s preference some had them across the back of the tank as they were quit often the hand break
It’s your tank it’s what you make it

Oh now that’s a good idea! I was looking at a few of them too. Need to tell the wife nothing is safe just nowExhibitedbrute wrote:If you look into the dark depths of the airing cudboard you may find some old pillow cases to dye for tarps as well

I have sorted of size where I’d like them with the stowage boxes in mind. There are so many variants and style it’s had to get a layout I think looks right. I’d like to be as historically accurate as I can be. Iv decided on a ‘Battle Of Berlin’ look, not as far as the bed frames all over it but that’s another ‘look’ I can adapted it too further down the line if I change my mindExhibitedbrute wrote:With the logs keeping in mind where you have to put you stowage boxes and ice things I would go on the drivers side rear but with logs it’s preference some had them across the back of the tank as they were quit often the hand break

Re: Heng Long T-34 Project
You could alway have more than one. I have about 6 Sherman’s at the moment all different variants. Only 3 t34. 5 if you include the assault guns. But a t34/85 is a t34/85 aside from the Prototypes or Chinese ones most of the differences on them for me at least are little bits the crew stick on or in the road wheels the overall shape is much the same. But like many of the ww2 tanks it depends which factory made them. one for me on the variant differences will be the kv1/2 with the first about to get the weathering treatment.
With the t34 I find there appears to be early and late versions of both the 85 and 76 but the differences are small differences such as the wheels and hatches

You are right, there are so many differences with the T-34, or any tank from WW2 I guessExhibitedbrute wrote:You could alway have more than one. I find on t34/76 and t34/85 there’s really only 2 variants. Early and late. The differences are the hatches and road wheels on the t34/85 and the hatch on the 76. There are later variants but in most cases the ones that where built was just a handful of prototypes and never entered service or full production. Others never made it off paper.

Re: Heng Long T-34 Project
I can think of at least 2 different commanders hatches on the T34/85 that vary by factory even before we got onto the post war Czech and Polish versions - reflected in the differences in the WSN and Heng Long 34/85's (single hatch vs split)
The /76 comes in many versions:
M1940 (or 41 depending on source) with the recoil compensator over the gun
The M1941 (or 42) with the improved 76mm gun in the classic sloped 2 man turret has at least 3 versions - regular, extra armour similar to the KV-1E, and the Stalingrad plant specific version (RRZ?) with the 45 degree cut off gun housing.
The M1942 (or 43) has at least 2 different hexagonal 3 man turrets, again depending on which plant produced it.
T34's are as varied as Shermans when you get into it.

Re: Heng Long T-34 Project
Sherman’s are a pain but then to carry out all those lets be honest annoyingly fiddley modifications for t34 variants even more so. But should I need to find an excuse for more tanks. Once I exhaust the Sherman excuse. I have the t34 and kv to get on with

I think the HengLong one is a late version of the 85? Comparing it to pictures but I might be wrong. I wanted to replicate one from the Battle of Berlin. One without the bed frame/fence material on the side as it!Tiger6 wrote:I can think of at least 2 different commanders hatches on the T34/85 that vary by factory even before we got onto the post war Czech and Polish versions - reflected in the differences in the WSN and Heng Long 34/85's (single hatch vs split)

Re: Heng Long T-34 Project
I have one of those I think. I will bring it up from shed tomorrow and take a snap of it. As for wishing you had an airbrush they are ok but if you use a make up sponge you results can be quite close or better depending on what your doing. For example a makeup sponge can give quite a nice casting effect. And airbrush not so much
