Most cats just play chase with birds. My pair love their blackbird playmates and vica versa.

Chaffinch Countermeasures?
Nothing an air rifle wouldn’t sort
And much cheaper to buy than hiring a crane...

Both could crack the glass. No, you don't want armour piercing for a Chaffinch, high explosive should shoo it away with a lasting headache it wont forget in a hurry. Then again, you could consider a low flying B2 with smart weapons - plenty in the UK just now.

Hmmm...I have a Walther air rifle with telescopic sight (and in Scotland, you need a type of firearm certificate for one
That cost me deep in the sporran
).
Thing is, it would easily penetrate the bird, and the glass...so, that's not the solution I want. tempting though GJ's crane notion is, I wonder if there's some sort of hormone that smells of hot chaffinch? I could then smear it on the nearest woodpecker hole, or Pine Marten lair....

I used to have a joke shop-type parrot whose head would turn, and wings would flap when triggered. It wouldn't take a great deal of skill to RC such a parrot=sentry

I looked for RC options in terms of bird-scarers (but not bird traumatisers). This airborne device might well fit the bill (or beak), it also looks as if a wee camera could be mounted on it too, to catch the terror

I think there are probably laws against shooting chaffinches. You can get covers for cars. If you covered the windows then there would be no reflections.
