Is our new member up to or wanting to get involved in rewiring potentially the whole tank? It should affect the proposed solution! I'll ask him now?

Are you used to using a soldering iron and multi meter??
Soldering iron yes, multi meter no. I am going to replace the motors/gearboxes anyway, so I will have to solder anyway. I could redo the tank, with some guidance.

I agree. Now is the time to gut your tank and start fresh with nice gearboxes and nice electronics. A blank canvas so to speak.

Best of luck then. Your first job is to establish precisely what version of mfu is fitted. Then l advise you buy a multi meter to help you identify where leads to and what current they are carrying.

Then ask for guidance again!

The Atlantic is much smaller than the Pacific and on the civilised side :haha: is http://www.forgebeartanks.com and http://www.rctank.de
Both of these dealers are trustworthy and export to the USA and plenty of our North American members buy from these dealers with regularity and satisfaction.

Okay, am I wrong? Is the Rx18 crystal? Or is it 2.4 ghz?

I need a 2.4 ghz receiver, any ideas? Don't have the money for a Clark or IBU2

If you buy a replacement that is the same as the board that is currently in your Pershing then it is simply plug in the cables into the requisite holes and off you go BUT only if it was the MFU that failed,
Please check the wiring before spending money on a new board,
The RX18 is not 2.4, it is 27Mhz,BUT changing over to a 2.4 board is not too much of a challenge,
If you do go for a Heng Long or Taigen replacement board that is not the same version as you presently have then you will need to change to a Heng Long or Taigen Transmitter that matches the new board as well,
The points about using these boards is they are the cheapest and easiest to change over but they really are nowhere near the best.
Up until very recently Heng Long and Taigen control boards were part of a closed system which meant the Tank could not be operated using an aftermarket Transmitter and receiver.
Plenty of us have gone down this route so there will be lots of helpful hints and tips on the Forum already.

Another thing you should pick up is a set of crimpers and a jst plug assortment. That whole deal shouldn't cost you more than about 25 or $30, but it will save you millions in frustration. If you want to change over to the V1 version of the taigen Electronics I can sell you the mfu and the transmitter for $30, plus probably about $15 postage from Detroit to Maryland. For an extra $10 I'll even throw in an anti track recoil device.
