What ever you do, don't put them in the bath in your rental property and think running the tracks in shallow water is a great idea. Dont ask me how I know this..

Thinking about Tom's reservations about tanks taking a track-cleaning bath; this HL Leopard 2A6 appears to have no problem with H2O- in fact, it's like a DUKW to water
Mind you, at minimum, the on/off switch (underneath the tank) must have been either relocated, or taped up.

Just one more reason why all my Panzer 4s have their power switches relocated under the drivers hatch and the base of each Tank is wiped over with "MMD Green Putty" before painting to ensure the hull is water resistant.

Was more the dirty tank track shaped scratches on the bath!

Not to deviate too much off track, so to speak, Shaun mentioned MMD green putty as a means of keeping your tank's hull free of water. Well, here's a comparison tidbit on the relative properties of some putties.
With these caulking up the cracks, maybe even a track-jetwash could be an option
It's also worth referring back to French Freddie's beautiful DD Sherman build

I don't bother with Acetone when using "MMD Green Putty" I just squeeze a nub of it into a teaspoon of warm water and that thins it down enabling an easy and wide application + it dries quickly.
I discovered this tip when I found a half used tube of the stuff which had dried out,
I added water and Hey Presto all was well.
