My new Heng Long Tiger 1 "V6.0" arrived this morning from Howes of Kidlington, A 5 day turn around from placing my order to delivery.
All in good order,
As I mentioned earlier it cost a total of £119 including delivery,
When I got Heng Longs box out of the protective cardboard outer I noticed the "HAYA" sticker on the box, Obviously Howes are getting the Tanks from Andrew which got me looking at the price Haya's are charging for the same item, £112.99 + Free delivery which is very good value BUT if I have a problem I can put the tank in the car and 30 minutes later I can be at Howes getting the problem sorted face to face,
You really cannot beat going to a bricks and mortar building to talk to the staff.

I agree it's nice to know your retailer and both Andrew at Haya and Dave 'n' Julie at Forgebear are my preferred suppliers for any parts they stock, Forgebear carrying just about everything going bar the latest HL gear, but now days online shopping using retailers you know carries no real risk at all and, given my purchase was more than 20 per cent less than yours for the exact same item, ones loyalties and warm feelings have to take back seat at times.

That's not knocking Howes, a model shop l've used many times in the past for other than tank purchases and always on line, they are a solid reliable well stocked model shop. But there are others!

Now you have it, what are your first impressions?

Hold on General I only just put the Battery on charge :haha:
Initial impressions based on the only other Heng Long Tiger 1 that I have bought as a RTR Tank as opposed to the Body and Turret to mount on a Taigen Metal Hull of which I have a number
The 27Mhz Tiger struck me as flimsy lightweight plastic and built with a Friday afternoon feeling whereas the 2.4 V6.0 is far more robust moulded out of an ABS type of plastic with a cupola that is fitted correctly from the off, of course the twin spare aerial stowage tubes are on the body (FOR NOW :lolno: ),And I never expected the turret to be correctly located and I have not been disappointed :/
The first Tiger came with all the fixtures and fittings moulded on (Just like Taigens Tanks still do :lolno:) and this latest Tank comes with all the bits and pieces in a separate box which includes the USB Battery charger,
A great improvement on the original charger that got hot and lasted just a few hours longer than the smoker,
This being cheap it has plastic Wheels and idlers and sprockets as well as nylon tracks and moulded in place driver and radio operator hatches and an ABS hull,
Such shortcomings have already been addressed c/o Dave,
Once the battery is charged I shall check out the electrics to see if the much vaunted V6.0 board is really as good as everyone says if it is not I would like to give "Elmods" Fusion a try.
Later.

The driver and radio hatches open on mine, indeed the on/off switch is under one of them. Mind you, mine didn't have a Haya sticker on the box.

There has also been a more recent generation of shell for the Tiger 1 between your 27mhz you describe and the new v6 types. My v5.3 example came with separate tools but isn't the same hull molding as the v6 one. Interesting......
