Some insight as to where the next phase of HL is heading: keep an eye out for their increasing range of 1/6 & 1/8 all metal releases. I have no idea where their thinking is other than they want to try to beat their new rival, Warslug.
Meanwhile Warslug just announced they are developing & will soon release a range of 1/35 METAL kits? Its getting very strange here.

Not a Tiger, this is my just purchased 6.0 JP, but get rid of the metal post left over from the eye-poker antenna and make the high speed control as good as the new low speed control, and a tad more volume wouldn't hurt on the highest setting. And make the track cable look more like a track cable and less like a coil of rope.

As for the British desire for British tanks, you may do well to take a page from the book of a Yank. I have to constantly remind my countrymen that 96% of all the humans on the face of the earth, let me say that again, 96% of all the humans on the face of the earth ... are NOT Americans!! (that explains the lack of a good M-60 or MBT-70) That can be easy to forget sometimes, but it is some comfort to know that we Murcans aren't the only ones that do that. BTW, a Brit would have to say that 99.12 percent of all the humans are not British. Got that from Google, which says that .88% of the global population is British. That's right, I'm humorous
and informative, what's not to love?

Not too sure population has much to do with it mate. No figures but I would betchina has a pretty large population but they don't have a great history with tanks. British, American and German tanks have been in operation for years, are famous throughout the world snf mny hsvr s decent combat record (for one reason or another). Also, who actually buys the RC models? Is it the contry with the largest population or those with the most affluent/highest disposable income?

get some real engineers to design the models, if they had them you guys would not be complaining about inferior suspension design and materials that make them and I would not be surprised anymore when someone complains about those "gearboxes"..
Other than that, I am Glad HL is out there, I do not like them at all, its no lie there, but at least they are addressing for the most part the requests of the folks out there that want different models!

As an afterthought on the topic, has anyone noticed an improvement in the comprehensibility (though written instructions) of Heng Long manuals? They were once worse than Pedro Carolino's celebrated (for the wrong reasons) phrasebook: "English as she is spoke', but not quite as funny.

Hi.
Its interesting to hear the grumbles about Heng Long but lets not forget they were / are made to a budget much lower than any other which is probably why the hobby has increased so much as it became affordable to most not just an elite few...i myself would not be in this hobby without them as i suspect most would not, the Tamiya and now others are well out of my price range and the prices are going up.
If all the improvements were put into motion then the Heng Long price would probably be the same as Tamiya....as it is you can update your standard Heng Long as you can afford whilst still enjoying the tank.
We should be thank full Heng Long came along.
Just my opinion.

good points well made! So far I have only ever bought myself one tank (A Heng Long Challenger 2) and a Heng Long Pkw3 for my young lad so I have nothing to compare them to detail/quality wise and bought both of them based on price. If money wasn't an issue I'd have an Armourtec (or similar) 1:6 scale monster (1:6 Megatron please!!!!). As it is I bought my tank and have spent more time fettling and upgrading it than I have actually driving it! And I have enjoyed the whole process (despite the contual cost of upgrades!!). Had I been limited to say a Tamiya I would never have got into the hobby as the cost (for me) is prohibitive for what is, for me, a big boys toy!
In short; BZ Heng Long!

Its been said so many times already but..
If it were not for HengLong this forum would have far fewer members. So many of us started with the affordable HL and many still buy them. Some of us realised that its cheaper to buy Taigen/Torro than buy a HL then fit T/T upgrades so prefer to buy T/T from the outset.
With HL's v6 mfu their electronics have taken a step up but so has their price. I'm thinking about trying one. Best of all, its great for us we have the choice.
