You big softy Dave. lol. I used to live on a farm as a child, our Border Collie had never been trained to herd anything in his life but used to watch the ducklings like a hawk. He would lie on the ground outside of their pen. If one got out he would run round, gently pick it up in his mouth, and drop it back inside.

I've no idea how he figured that out??

An immersive and entertaining review, Gen.J., as well a fulsome enhancement account. As pithy as Henry James, perhaps, but very well-written for all that. :D Nice clear pics too, taken in a truly enviable workspace. :D

Thanks y'all, glad you enjoyed the read - l certainly enjoyed the build and feeding back my experiences. Feel free to ask if any details or clarification would be useful.

Btw, Dave just called me re the SU-100 build and I'm down another weeks pension (what a salesman) but he is sending me all the Taigen IR electrics plus the elevation and recoil gear so I'm guessing l now have call the bits l need. So far so good, the old HengLong MFU is out and the new Taigen one is in - and working!

Excellent read and a beautiful model at the end of it all. Out of curiosity the "good primer" you recommend, what is it ?

Sorry, I've not been very helpful here! I use the same one from my local car spares and know it by sight, not name. I can't find the can so probably emptied it but I'll check the dustbin in the morning as it could still be there! Main thing is to make sure its recommended for metal as most model making brands are kind to plastics but won't 'etch' on to metals. If you need evidence of this, check out the metal hatches on Taigen/Torro metal turrets - little chips everywhere! My IS-2 suffers this. So far as l can see, no primer used at all?

Update re primer - must have binned it over 2 weeks ago as its gone! I need some more so I'll let you know.

Such an engrossing read that I am now late for work!

Excellent insight and really helpful as I have that lower hull to play with and prime as well.

Just tell it was my fault. Blame me.

Peter, just went to buy a new can of primer and to my horror the car spares shop is under new ownership with new stock we both now don't know what make it was! If l do find it again I'll pm you but l'm sure there are many other good ones... I hope I've just bought one!
