Here's the spruces that came with it.

This is the newest tank with metal upgrades so it cost me just over £200 (pre order) but there are plenty of older models with V6.0 on ebay for under £100 which is a bargain.

Forgot to mention that it is IR and can fire BB's so you can battle with friends* and shoot stuff when you're on your own.

* I know it's not up to Tamiya standards when it comes to IR battling but it'll still be a bit of fun.

Saw one up close & personal today while the RC competition in Shanghai where HL was showing in attendance. They only had their display model so it wasn't available for running but overall looks good.

I would say Heng Long as come a long way in the last 10 years, they were toys then now more like a working model.

Funny you mention that since they still are selling & had on display their infamous "Pantiger". :haha:

Chinese RC tanking, at least when it comes to the hobby, is still very much toy like. Nobody here wants to battle but instead drive around a pseudo crawler course in competition. Weird.

Cheers!
Better break that news to BarryC before he wastes any more time with painting his "toy grade" Abrahams. . . .

I'd say compared to ten years ago when I started with a heng long Tiger, Heng Long has improved dramatically. Before I'd immediately toss the electronics for an aftermarket board, now I wouldn't consider it unless it's a competitive battler.

Price wise I'd say below hobby grade, paint also. But,with a little bit of elbow grease a Heng Long can be the base of an impressive model.

This T-72 is really nice RTR right out of the box. I'd probably keep it as is.

I think it is a very nice looking toy. But dont take the word "toy" in the Eastern Front way, lol. I call toys even Tamiyas or my super computerized things, because those are toys for me, and I love playing with toys, lol.

If I wanted a T72 Id get the waltersons, because as far as I know it will be possible to order it as a kit, and I love to assemble them, but this heng long looks very cool, and indeed the electronics have improved and are way better than the overpriced tamiyas. If only I could use my own radios with them... Sigh...

And Xiaoshan: In Spain most of the tankers do something similar. They dont battle but drive around the battlefield, which is cool too!

Trouble is, I've only found "platinum editions" :/
Maybe check out Ebay US? I've seen them as cheap as $160 shipped ( £132) if you want all plastic. They offer 4 grades, first with 360° turret, the second with metal gears, the third with metal gears, tracks and idlers... Seriously thinking of getting one, been wanting a T72 literally since i started making tank models in the 1970's.
