Jimster, Tiger 1 Early's were in North Africa (501 Abteilung) from mid November 1942 onwards,
By the 25th they were fighting the British at Tebourba (Tunisia) which should provide you with plenty of scope for a Town/Village diorama,
Check out the many photographs on various sites and in books such as "Tigers in Combat" (Wolfgang Schneider)

Tonight I removed the front outer road wheels to move even closer to representing one the very first Tigers to arrive at Club Leningrad. Removing those wheels lessened the chances of getting mud and snow clogged up in the running gear. I used a hacksaw to remove them. It looks really cool rolling along.

Don't no about that one But it is your tank

There are plenty of photographs of Tiger 1s in Russia with the front outer wheels removed for the reason that "Jimster" gives,
I don't believe German Tank crews used a Hacksaw to remove the wheels though

I like that look. If I may suggest though, add a small flange with holes in it around the axle stub to represent the wheel mounting hardware.
perhaps a suitable sized washer with pre drilled holes glued on ?

Yes, I’ve been thinking of a way to represent the flange. I like the small washer idea or maybe some styrene. I’ll come up with something.

The Tamiya kit does come with a couple of the flanges. I have a couple extra if you want them. -Mike

Excellent! What a great bunch of kind folks on here. Wish I had started in this hobby years ago instead of months ago.

I went ahead and fabricated a pair of “good enough” hubs using styrene and nut/bolt castings. They aren’t exactly perfect but I hope they won’t draw any attention.

Upon further examination of old photos I realize I had the wrong idea about what the hub looked like with the wheel removed. The piece I fabricated was actually a part of the wheel and the remaining hub looks totally different from my attempt. How embarrassing. I’ll try again.
