It's easy to lose them out of doors when they get snagged by tall grasses, and twigs. The same's true of any other delicate (and sometimes expensive) attachments...
Sometimes, the most lovingly detailed models aren't up to the rough stuff...
As for Tamiya turrets in general, most of the dynamic components are well positioned, and easily accessible.

Lads, the Taigen pz4 turret I have on a mates tank is all metal, but the bin is a separate part. The elevation unit is std Taigen and is all within the turret.
The bin lid is an integral part of the body but should be able to be sawn off,

The reason I have never replaced a Stowage box on a PZ4 Turret is because it was filled with The Gun Mechanism which is why the Turret box was not mounted in the correct position,
The latest Turret has the Stowage box in the proper place and until Roy told me the elevation motor was in the Box I had assumed that Taigen had relocated everything within the Turret allowing the box to be located properly and leaving the Box empty hence my decision to open up the lid.
Dave E-Mailed me today telling me that the Turret is now in the post so next week I shall know one way or the other if the stowage box can be made to work.

My panzer iv turret from Dave has everything contained in the turret. The bin is a sperate cast metal piece and doesn't have any bits in it. It hangs off the turret superstructure with brackets like the real thing.

I dont think I've missed anything but mine is an IR version if that helps.

Thank you Carl that is very helpful and my hopes have risen, I already have a PZ4 Metal stowage box which I bought years ago thinking the swap would be a doddle WRONG
So I have a lid that I can use if I make a hash of cutting off the existing lid.

All very illuminating. I've actually not seen the inside of the revised (non-hunchback) version of the Pz IV storage box. The elevation unit is mounted in there in the older model, and I assumed (wrongly it seems) that it would still be there.
I guess, in order to place the unit in the turret Taigen must have come up with an entirely new elevation design, or used the type fitted to the Sherman and Stug. Quite where they've put it, I really don't know, but would be very interested to see. Anyone got some shots of the turret's internals- Airsoft or IR?
Here's a pic I lifted from Arnie's thread showing the interior of his IR/Recoil equipped Taigen Pz IV. There doesn't appear to be room for a conventional Taigen elevation unit in there...

Here's some pics I just took of the assembly.... the basket is supported by the metal bar across the bottom and upper posts. No other attachment points I can see.
