Thanks Mick, considering that I have two Taigen metal tanks as well, the quality of Tamiya plastic is streets ahead and almost as heavy too...

I think the plastic is a little thinner on the hull and turret, but Tamiya do do quality mouldings.

Looking at that part, maybe it is off of another tank/toy and accidentally got put in with the Pershing?!

If you take a pic of the MFU and post it here, it will be possible to check whether the MFU has the connection port for lights. If so, the bits you need should be obtainable from Axel's. Here:

The light unit's not available currently, but you could always order it, or find one secondhand... (prelurved) Check the other bits out that you might need.

You all know I am sick at saving money, but from all the tamiya parts, maybe the most overpriced one is the lights control. It is an absolute waste of money, and you can have way better results with a 1 euro free shipping electronic switch.

The old incandescent bulbs system was weak and fragile, and the newer optic fiber system just does not work as it should. Sure the headlights will have a nice color, but the light almost does not go away from the headlights, making them useless for driving at night. (Yeah, I love my own night patrols,lol)

If our colleague has some SMD leds for the rear lights (that already has) he just needs to grab some leds for the headlights (I use 3mm warm white leds, less than a euro 100 of them) and the switch. So as I said for about euro you have a very good system that works.

No mention, of course, that you can use that system in any tank, including those tamiyas that come with no lights.

38 euros + about 10 shipping for the axels modelbau system, jesus christ...

If you look at the inside of a Tiger 1 cupola hatch you will see 3 of these fitted around the edge, They are used to lock the hatch shut.

I have those too. Got a few of them in an estate sale lot when I got my king tiger. Great for bunker doors and hatches on tanks.

Good morning,
Build yourself a detailed rear bulkhead for that tank. It really deserves one. The working barrel lock is a great start from Tamiya but other things can be scratched out fairly easily as well.
