Those of a nervous disposition look away now (surgery pictures inbound!)

After looking at lots of references for other bits like the headlight guards I realised the front end was totally wrong. I couldn't find any with the snub nose of mine (to be fair this is a fault of the tamiya mk5 on which this is based).

I used a dremel to score the nose where I wanted to bend. This has the nice side effect of heating the pla and making it maliable. The resulting bump was then filled with filler and reprofiled. The lower plate was built up with styrene and cut to fit.

It gets worse, this things having more nose surgery than Jacko. On closer inspection it seemed only the very early versions had a nose without any drop, somemore scoring and being and filling and I think I'm happy. Theres a definite steeper angle and a bevel which I couldn't capture before and lookibg at the lower plate it was too long with the higher nose.

I have to ask; are the inverted pictures intentional? Holding my laptop upside down is a bit of a challenge!

I rather like this build but I certainly don’t have the patients or skills at the moment to build one

Some more progress, refitted the furniture on the nose, bit the bullet and ground down the supports for the skirts and got them fitted, done the ribs on the front fenders and finally fitting the door for the IR lamp, new hinges, stop and some other detail. Staring to look a bit more chieftainy
