Tiger Turrets where never used as gun emplacements only for training purposes just this method is still used today, the Atlantic wall for some reason used a number of French "char" turrets and a few Panther D turned into bunkers the main turrets that the Germans used during the war was the Panther turret, Panzer III & IV used on armoured trains, of interest are the Turrets and Tanks that BarkingSquirrel shows pictures of these are post war and where removed from the Turkish boarder in the last 10 years some where just observation turrets but where never used by the Germans in this manner, this is where the HL Pantiger comes into it's own as the chassis is of little use but the turret would make a reasonable bunker project 

If you can get your hands on a copy of Fine Scale Model Special Issue called ( Essential Techniques For The Model Builder ) try http://kalmbachcatalog.stores.yahoo.net/fs2.html  for the magazine its $8.95 outside the U.S. but it has a artical on building a German Pillbox Diorama in 1/35  that can be used to build a 1/16 rc controlled tank turret pillbox step by step instructions .This one shows a Panther turret.

I have a HL Panther I gutted for electronics the turret is still all there can convert it to IR and build this Panther Pillbox also none as a Pantherturm gun emplacement there is a book out called Pantherturm I and II by Thomas L. Jentz .
