John your panzer 4 is fantastic, the mesh is very well modelled, and I love the MG just hanging off it!

Your panzer 3 are great too.It always amazes me how good these little HL panzers look.

This master TamiyaCon award winning modeler does a great job of instructing and this is the go to site for all builds:

Hi John,
Thanks for the excellent link and the tips . The more you look at the HL Pz.IV you see errors  :( Ive noticed the rear idler sits to high and the Mantle is way oversized . I aim to do my tanks as used in Normany . I know the majority of Pz.IVs were late Ausf.H but the Ausf.J was used in its early version to . And along with some Ausf.Gs . Your skirts are relay neat . And like you say the Tamiya version comes with turret skirts fitted , so I have them to build to . I have a HL Pz. III which I'm turning into a Stug Ausf.G so Ive had a little practice making the skirts . Your excellent photos will provide plenty of help and the more I look at them it spures me on to start my Pz. IV .

Keep up the good work and thanks . Andy

The Normandy, Holland, Belgium Pz4 is a favorite modeling subject. Enjoy these WWII reference photos.

Hi John ,
Some intresting pictures , very good . Ive decided mines going to be the late Ausf.H . With the interlocking armour (like the J ) , steel skirts , no track guard mounted filter system as they were removed once the skirts were fitted because of the dust build up , so Ive read . Id like to get another HL Pz.IV and do it as a late Pz.IV with the horizontal exhausts , mesh skirts and just may be with the three return wheels or that may be a bit to late ?

Interesting link, many of the techniques that Oz demonstrates in his tutorial on this forum.Although these methods seem to be universal their are differences in the stages.Well done build and great detailing.Sax

Tamiya Pz4J Build Update

Post by Pcomm1 »

Hi All,

New Pz4 battle look and a new tank commander too. The side skirts were damaged in a collision with a Pershing during a backyard fight.

I'll need to design stronger mounts in 2010 if I want to run the skirts.

Our friend Erwin came with the Tamiya Static DAK Kubel kit, but seemed perfect in the Pz4 cupola, but had to cut off the poor guys legs just below his pot belly. And he slips over the TBU receiver plug too, I guess because of that 46 inch waist. :D
