Thanks guys, Got the Zimmerit done today. The Tamiya ATAK kit requires little adjustment to fit Henglong.

I love the Zimmerit affect,
You don't want to leave the removal of the excess Spare Aerial Holder on the left side looking from the back of the Tank on the engine bay too late. Otherwise you will swear if you damage the Zimmerit as you cut it off.
A Tip If you get a blade under the Knob end It should peel off in one go if you run a blade down the aerial holder at the same time as you lift it free of the body.

I'm all over this as I'm currently modding my wsn to 2.3 etc.. The recoil unit has had it, any suggestions?

When I first got into RC Tanks I read alot about the many companies and I always read that Tamiya was the best and Hobbyboss/Trumpeter/WSN was a close second along with Taigen and at the bottom of the barrel was Henglong. To tell you the truth I think the Henglong Tiger is as good as the WSN and in some areas better. Here they are side by side, fender to fender with their primer. The fact that the ATAK Zimmerit sheet for the Tamiya fits so well on the Henglong speaks volumes about how well they did.

I have a question, I looked through 2 of my Tiger I books and could not find the answer so I hope one of you may know...

On the top of the Tiger I turret there is a line behind the mantel a bit on the front slope. What is that? It is not on every Tiger I model, I dont know if that is a mistake and they should all have it or if some had it and others didn't? As you can see in the picture below the Henglong has it, the WSN does not...

Nice one Jon. The Tamiya Atak set fits the Heng Long although the turret is too long? I wouldnt bother, because I have a set for a static Tiger of the Taigen remains, but interesting none the less.

The turret roofs changed a lot over time. So there were ones with a welded on strip and some dindt have that feature. If I remember correctly it was omitted in the later ones, but I am not sure when. Dyvid Byrdens Tiger1 info is very helpfull there and he commented on this board and on the Armorama review of a it I have as well.

This can give you an idea of various late Tiger versions.

Certainly in July 1943 a new Turret was fitted this incorporated the lower profile cupola and the roof was thicker and in March 1944 the turret roof was uparmoured to 40mm thickness,
It does need to be remembered that the quality of the Steel in the later Tiger 1s was much poorer hence the need to fit thicker armour to compensate for the loss of the steels abilities to protect the Tank.
