Thanks Alwin, praise indeed. It will be a 38 hour print at a minimum. Can you tell me the width across the outside edges of the tyres? I am guessing it is around 130-140mm?

Hi Rob, the quad width is 221 cm which equates to scale width of 138mm, the HL truck width to the outside of the wheels is (strangely enough) 137mm. Talk about a good fit.

Phew!! That is great news, I can alter the wheelbase on the chassis if need be, it should be an easy job.

The HL truck arrived today, so I pulled it apart.
I need a 145mm wheelbase.
This is going to be a tight fit, the transmission shafts are too long to fit between the central gearbox and the axle. Due to the way that it is all designed there is a limit to how short I can make those shafts. I may have to make this a 2 wheel drive quad if I can't wedge everything in there, which would be relatively easy to achieve.

Hi Rob, what if you shorten both driveshafts and move the motor forwards, and possibly also move the motor above the mounting rails as there will be plenty of space in the cab?
I don't know how possible this is but also you may be able to modify the motor mount and reduce the length of the drive spindle at the rear and also possibly at the front.
I've just stripped my motor and you could steal about 8 to 10mm by playing with the mounting of the universals and modifying the motor mount, or you could go for a double motor arrangement with motors above/below/alongside one another.

I looked at all of the options, but either the angle of the shafts is too steep, or the shafts cannot be shortened and still be able to fit on the various pins. I have re-jigged it so that 2 wheel drive is the option, which will allow it to run without placing stress on the shafts. 4 wheel drive would result in pretty much 90 degree links on all of the shafts.
It won't make a lot of difference to how it runs, as it won't be going over any difficult terrain.

One shortened chassis. When the shell has finished printing I will design a one piece cross member for the front with a servo mount for the steering. Might need to shorten the rear too.

Probably a silly suggestion but could you actually lower the motor so it is more in lib be with the axles?
