Re: Mato Sherman metal lower problem

Post by PainlessWolf »

Good morning,
I've had no run off issues with the track run or sprockets on the MATO M36B1. I noticed a slight angle at the sprockets, like the tracks were pulling in there and I noticed 'clacking' when I test ran the tracks with a sag. Making sure that the idlers were centered with the sprockets and that the tracks were tensioned right took care of it. I've run it hard through the dirt, stones and scrub and nothing has broken or tried to run off. Thinking about this as I type, I think that all of the mentioned problems come from MATO using the same Sherman lower on everything that came after their initial metal Sherman. They either didn't listen to complaints like these or there weren't enough of them to make them take notice and fix the gearbox positions. I think that the newer tracks, the more robust types are better made. No breakage or issues with these so far. I run MATO metal tracks with MATO plastic sprockets on 'Maxene' and once I had the right idler body installed, they ran great as well, no issues. 'Maxene' is a lightweight tho', compared to an all metal MATO product like the M10 or M36B1 \ Sherman, so some caution may need to be exercised there if running plastic sprockets.
regards and good luck!
