When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!

Im lucky to be building on tiles mostly, so any dropped bits can be fairly easily located.
Great idea on that vacuum cleaner/parts filterfinderer !!

I bought a cheap hand held magnifier from Asda, it is magnifying glass with a ring of superbright led's around it. It has been a boon when trying to find bits on the floor, and great for peering into dark tank interiors trying to locate plugs, wires, connections etc.

Thanks for all the ideas which under other circumstances would be very useful. What you can't see (fortunately ;D ), is that my work room is, in fact, a large slice of chaos that is masquerading as a work room. Having far too much stuff and a lack of storage places, there are boxes and piles of things on the floor and I'm not about to move all these.

I have made my own goggles, which although not up to the original, I think will pass muster from a distance.

You are far too good at this modelling lark, jeez, I couldn't paint a figure like that in a thousand years! :silent:

What I do is stick a kit of preformed parts together and then slap some paint on the result. Now scratch building from plasticard or 3D printing a tank is something I could never achieve. I just don't have the skills.

I wonder if you could talk us though the process you used when painting the face please, do you first use primer and then which shades to build up the face detail, dark first then lighter shades? How do you do the eyes and when do you paint them, the order of things and your process would be great. Which paints and maker/colours do you use? Very nice paint job. I wonder if the mods could make a figure painting section in tips and tricks?

I have some more faces to paint, so I am happy to do a thread, showing the stage by stage processes, together with the relevant paints. I only use Vallejo paint for faces.

Excellent job silversurfer. I think a thread on the stage by stage process would be fantastic , I have a few figures here in the waiting also and very little knowledge , a masterclass would be great .
