• Durable, thermoplastic rubber
• Low Profile Filters, Push and Quarter Turn Fitting
• P3 High Effciency Dust-Only Filtration
So the mask initially comes with filter especially for dust not paint or solvents at £24.99
you would then have to buy the two extra cartridges for £18.99 to make it usefull for spraying etc..this now makes it quite an expensive mask.
Would it not be a better idea to buy a mask that already comes with the right filters in the first place ?
It
did, Jake. It came with the A1 filters; proof agains VOCs (i.e. the solvent crap you get from Paints, varnishes etc..). I could have picked other options, but would have died of boredom checking out all the details. Besides, this one
works.
This is a fuller description of what the A1 filters do (the Mask itself, for GIMP or other purposes, is merely the starting point.) I think you'll find the gear used in spray booths etc would cost an awful lot more than the modest price required for one of these...and don't forget- as if you could

the cartridges are replaceable. Your health
isn't.
..."The hugely successful MaxiMask is now even better as the FORCE 8. This version gives gas filtration for Organic (naturally occurring) vapors/gases. A1 protection is the recognised European standard and is designed for the workplace, DIY or the factory floor. A! filtration is gas-dedicated but there is secondary dust protection where dust is not the main hazard. Filter life on gas concentration and type, work rate, and breathing rate. The time to change filters is assessed by an increased taste or smell or an increased awareness in the level of vapour in the air. A general guide is that gas/vapour filters are changed around 28 days from 1st use, but user discretion is as important as any hard and fast ruling. This FORCE 8 Mask is a ready to go to work package. The thermoplastic rubber ensures best fit to most face shapes. The uprated exhale valve is low resistance for comfortable breathing. It prevents the build up of heat, water vapour and Carbon Dioxide within the mask. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals which may have adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors. VOCs are emitted by a wide array of products. Examples include: paints and lacquers, paint strippers, cleaning supplies, pesticides, building materials and furnishings, office equipment such as copiers and printers, correction fluids and carbonless copy paper, graphics and craft materials including glues and adhesives, permanent markers, and photographic solutions. Organic chemicals are widely used as ingredients in household products. Paints, varnishes, and wax all contain organic solvents, as do many cleaning, disinfecting, cosmetic, degreasing, and hobby products. Fuels are made up of organic chemicals. All of these products can release organic compounds while you are using them, and, to some degree, when they are stored..."
Now, if you're still awake and a glutton for punishment, you could look at the manufacturer's website to run through their comprehensive, if not so scintillating, list of options.
