Re: How to set up IR?
The boards would be useless unless you know how to program one. They aren't tank specific, they are an Arduino Uno and a pair of additional pcb's that allow the use of an emitter and a sensor. I am working on a theoretical basis, if it works there is a smaller cheaper board that may do the same thing, the Arduino Nano.
Google Arduino you will see what is involved.

No I mean to say you can. As long as your don't need a flash in the barrel to simulate firing, the stock RX-18 and Taigen 2.4Ghz board, as well as most other upgraded boards, will allow you to fire the BB and also the IR emitter at the same time. I have done couple of tanks with the BB intact and just put in an IR emitter either replacing the red LED warning light of the BB, or just in one of the periscope openings in the turret.Aussie wrote:No mate , pretty sure he meant to write CAN'T.
They are not mutually exclusive.

They are separate circuits so yes they should work independently of each other.

You can keep the same electronics if you are just battling stock tanks against one another. You just need an IR kit for each tank if they are not already IR. However, only Heng Long will battle other Heng Longs and nothing else.AshMann wrote:The electronics would just be the stock electronics..
Example of an IR kit for stock Heng Long and Taigen tanks.

Re: How to set up IR?
OZarmour sell a complete kit for making the conversion:

and for a discussion on the subject:

Okay...it's for a T34, but the same principles apply...
Just noticed that Michael had already posted the Oz link..

You will need a different electronic board. The kit will still work. You need different IR signals to be compatible with Tamiya. Clark, IBU2/3, ASP, Elmod, all these after market boards will battle Tamiya. Of course you can always get Tamiya as well but cost is quite significant.

By Tamiya you mean the IR system or the tanks?MichaelC wrote:You will need a different electronic board. The kit will still work. You need different IR signals to be compatible with Tamiya. Re: How to set up IR?
Sorry I meant the Tamiya system which is also expensive, just like Tamiya full option tanks.AshMann wrote:By Tamiya you mean the IR system or the tanks?MichaelC wrote:You will need a different electronic board.
