It depends on whether you're aiming for accuracy or just what's pleasing to your eye.
A lot of crews would try to obscure (overpaint black, mud, hang stuff in front of) the turret star because it made a lovely aiming point. I doubt any crew would want a big red heart or circle that looked like a bullseye.
In terms of writing, Berlin Express, etc works, but 'Bring It On' is a relatively recent phrase, I would imagine Escape the game is too. 1940s was more Kilroy was here. Murder Inc, Public Enemy, etc would be what young guys were familiar with from the movies of the time.
But again, it's your tank, whatever floats your boat.

And, you always have the option of installing an M26 Pershing turret onto the Sherman. The Army did it as a trial vehicle, but didn't put it into production. Then you'll have a bigger gun and turret AND it really existed.
A nice example of it is here:

Not sure what else i could put on the side of the Sherman, i cant think of anything that would work in the 1940s and be something i personally like. And the turret star is just a thing i like having there. If you have any ideas for what i can put on the side of the Sherman tank`s hull.
