Nashorn kit - Another kit In Progress

What level of assembly are you planning on shipping these with, Alwyn? Flat-packed, cemented?

Hi Raminator, the result won't really be a kit as such. It will comprise:

Upper hull in assembled and moderately finished unpainted form including front barrel support, ammo cabinets (no shells), gun slew motor included. I'll do pics when I've got the first kit ready to ship. Final finishing/filling/sanding/painting will be required.

Lower hull modified to fit the upper hull as just a bare unpainted modified panzer IV hull with road wheels only, no tracks/gearboxes/idlers/sprockets/gearbox covers/wiring/electronics of any sort, Buyer to provide their own. Also there will be no upper/lower hull attachment, again buyer to provide but I would suggest magnets.

Pak43 gun in assembled form with recoil and elevate servos fitted. The buyer will need to disassemble it, paint it, and reassemble it after painting and any customisation they want. Again I will do pics on completion of the first kit.

That's basically it. I haven't finalised a price yet, I need to tot up all the material cost and figure time/print costs as well.

Saw the Nashorn today at the MAD meet in Lancashire. . I can only say it's phenomenal very well thought out with some very neat 3d parts that will really make it a treat to build... Even in its raw 3d state it looks great and with a little effort there will be some great results. . Even the ammo stowage bins open with the 3d hinges loads of lovely detail too. Magic.....

The ammo cabinets are done and after my head scratching with the prototype I came up with a design for the tool box which allows the on/off switch, volume control, and recharging plugs etc to be hidden but readily accessible



The servo box and linkages needed updating as I have gone for a slightly uprated servo which is 1mm longer and wider than the prototype servos so some modifications were needed for that. Just need the lower hull and the Clark board to finally prove the prototype and then the first kit should be complete and ready.

Slightly bored waiting for the lower hull and Clark board to arrive so decided to do some detail work on the kit. Put the treadplate on the front and stuck the bolt heads on.




The detail work is pretty much done, the gun just needs some parts added but I don't want to do too much until I have tested the servos and their mountings with the clark TK22 plus I'm still waiting for the gun slew motor to arrive from China.

I haven't updated this for a while as I've been pottering away and also fighting with my 3D printer. However I have made considerable :progress

Extended the back end

Marked up for cutting the front


Delicate surgery

Put it back together



Made sure the upper fitted nicely


And now just waiting for the gun slew motor and test the servos after setting up the TK22 at the MAD meeting on the 19th and then she'll be ready for a customer.

How may kits do you plan to produce as I am one of your interested buyers once you have time to set them up.

Hi Carl, I am hoping to produce one more kit before my spring break in Spain but it depends on how cooperative my 3d printer is. At the moment it's being a pain. I'll be away then until July and hopefully put together a couple of kits in July/August.

I'm hoping this kit will be available in 2 weeks time.

First kit complete apart from testing and will be ready for it's first customer (already booked) in 10 days time. It just needs final testing of the recoil, elevate, and slew once I get the TK22 properly configured.










It has turned out quite well and the quality is much better than the prototype due to better printing and lessons learned during prototype assembly.
