Hello Shaun and I'm glad you're doing well now. Your doctor is correct, STRESS will take it's toll if allowed but moreover, genetics is rearing it's ugly head more and more. I speak from experience also. At age 42 I experienced chest pain while fighting a fire. A stent was inserted in my LAD (left asending something. At age 55 I had coronary bypass surgery. Doctors said I had too much stress in my life. So a bit of advice my friend, RELAX more often. Hard to do I know. At 69 yrs now and in the best shape I've been in years. I have made some BIG life style changes and now try to see the positive things in life. Genetics. My brother, who is 3 yrs my junior and who went through it all five years before I did says this, "Mom and Dad never should have had kids, they had terrible genes".

Take good care of yourself my friend.

Thank you Joe,
I have to agree with you about our genes and there bearing on our lives and our family's happiness,
It pleases me that you have worked out your change in lifestyle.
Certainly there must be many adjustments in my future for my Lady's sake if for no one else.
It is certainly helpful that so many friends on the Forum are sending me there good wishes,
it is most humbling, :{
Shaun.

Holy-moly Mr Jarndice...................I missed the significance to be honest, I thought it was a post on the normal deficiencies of a public health system, but when I actually went in, I felt terrible for not responding in a manor befitting your situation.

Sincerely hope you kick this to the side & live to a disgraceful old age & cause all sorts of embarrassment along the way ;) :haha:

All jokes aside, I lost my dad to heart failure when he was the ripe old age of 53, his first episode was 46 ...............
Stress is a silent killer, we dont know how bad we are until this type of thing happens, and I for one need to heed the warnings & stress less.
Easier said than done I know

Mr Spartan seems to get a new tank when hes feeling a bit low, perhaps you could bung that on Mrs J and see how you go eh!!

Hi Shaun, very glad to hear you survived and recovered from what must have been a very frightening experience. Both my wife and I have had excellent experience with our local NHS and we are very lucky to have such a great service in the UK. My wife was taken seriously ill 2 years ago when we were in France and although the care and treatment were rapid and extremely good, the cost was very significant and we had no travel insurance and relied mistakenly on the EHIC card. needless to say the first arrangement for any trip now is the travel insurance.

Hope you recover well and as Mr Spock would say

Live long and prosper

All the best
Alwyn

Just caught up on this thread, been busy today so haven't had a chance to log in.

Glad to hear the medics sorted you out, I have friends who have heart problems, and many years ago when still in my youth spent 3 days in an emergency cardiac unit. The NHS is something that we can be proud of in the UK, even if various people abuse it and cost us all money. We take it for granted. Want a doctor? Ring up and go see one. Need some pills? Go get some (free in Wales!) Need an operation? right away sir.

No bills, no questionnaires, no qualifying etc, it's there, it always has been, and I hope that for future generations it always will be.

Glad you're still with us for the forseeable future, Shaun. Rest up and take it easy!

It's unfortunate that universal healthcare still isn't exactly universal, but it's great when it's there for you.

An addendum to my earlier note,
First of all a very genuine thanks to all who have given me their best wishes, Jan and I are very grateful,
Yesterday, Saturday, I went to see my Doctor to give him a letter from the Surgeon and generally talk through what happens next, All very positive.
I walked out of his office and a Practice nurse accosted me, asking "Are you here for the Shingles Jab and the Flu Jab?" The next thing I know I am now Two injections up on what I was a day earlier. :haha:
I love the National Health Service.

Those are two of the important "Jabs" us old timers need. I had the Shingles shot four years ago and my annual flu shot Wednesday past.
