Indeed, Gary and I'm happy for you all

..as you can see! However, I see you're offering a brace of your best tanks for sale on another thread; methinks something is oddly afoot here

Hope it's for a positive outcome. Anyway, yes it's time for
US based multinationals to pick up, and feast on, British companies that are now going cheap...can't believe we let ARM holdings- one of the best chip design firms in the world (if not THE best) go to some Japanese speculator...

and with the exchange rate as it is Tankbear and Forgebear may be going east too

(I jest, of course).
Not sure about the 'bears' reference, tho? Do you mean 'speculators?" (Bear/bull markets..etc.?)

Also, Shaun, some vendors won't remove the VAT unless you're spending a predetermined minimum amount, usually around 20 euro, so if you're ordering something small, like decals or something, they might not be willing to do the math. I got hit like that for the air intake boxes for the PzIII from rctank.de not too long ago.
Yes, Roy, I'm thinning the herd a bit, and thought about also posting threads here, but I don't think any of these tanks are worth the price if you have to pay international shipping rates. I know there are also US based RC Tankers here, but most of them also know of the forum where the tanks are for sale, and word of mouth can help spread the news as well, like this ... Hey guys, got tanks right here!
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/tank-cl ... -75mm.html
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/tank-cl ... m-rtr.html
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/tank-cl ... 4-ghz.html
And two more to follow, a ZTZ-99A and I'm going to sell the M41 Walker Bulldog Anti Aircraft tank, with the extra stock airsoft upper hull and turret, and a complete third airsoft turret. The original plan called for obtaining another hull top for the third turret and setting that one up for IR battling. Then you'd have a 3 in One tank, with airsoft, IR and the AA top with the Quad .50 cals.
The reference to our beloved Ursine members were the very two that you mention. With the dollar strong against the pound right now it may result in more US sales for Ian and Dave. I know I'm trying to squeeze out the funds for the IBU2 for the Panther G, but I really want that new Tammy JP4 first. And I was just skimming Forgebear's site for small stuff. Dave can mail stuff that's small enough to go in a padded envelope for very reasonable prices, so I'm eyeing up some of those nice looking .50 cal rounds and also some decals. Even with the slightly higher postage rate for an overseas envelope I'm getting a better deal by buying from my British Brethren than if I bought here at home. And even though there are plenty that shout to "Buy American" I think it's about time we all became more Global Citizens. Nothing wrong with National Pride, but it's a big world full of cool RC Tankers so we should all try to expand our horizons. Just the opinion of a crazy old Hippie, of course.

I just take the view that if I see something that I want, then at that particular moment in time, am I prepared to pay the asking price? There is no magical, perfect, exchange rate, if one currency goes up another one, somewhere, has to come down. Sterling may be a poor deal against the Euro (at the moment) but it may be a good deal against another currency somewhere else? For all of the fluctuations, there isn't a huge change in prices. 10% of £1 is 10p. 10% of £100 is £10, and so on. So a £500 tank would cost £50 more, but when spending those amounts of money is it a dealbreaker?
As far as the Euro is concerned, wait until the UK Brexits, at that point my guess is that we will see a reversal of the current rates as although the GB will have a defined path, the EU countries won't, and it is the uncertainty that drives the exchange rates down. When you add into the equation the huge drop in EU funding, trading, fishing rights etc etc etc, the UK will suddenly become the attractive option for investors as an independent island off the coast of mainland Europe, and one that can trade without EU tariffs etc with the rest of the world. The economic lull is due to nothing more than the uncertainty about when and how we leave. Once that has been sorted, things will improve.
I can remember the situation a few years back (I was into model railways at the time) and a friend and I were buying exotic US railway trains for peanuts, it was like a gift from the Gods, as these items used to cost an arm and a leg. Now that the pendulum has swung the other way, UK exports are a bargain for anyone in the US.
It's all swings and roundabouts, and unless we had one world currency, one will always be better than another. As far as Brexit is concerned, there is no reason on the planet why that should have changed anything, and in reality nothing did change. We are still in the EU, we are still doing what we have always done business wise, and so is the rest of Europe.
And if you think buying/selling tanks is a nightmare try selling a house. I may as well give mine away, as no one is buying at the moment, and not even viewing? 12 months ago I could have sold it within a week at a much higher price??

Spot on mate............I'm 30+ % out on a purchase just on exchange(never mind postage)......so if a tank costs an extra 150GBP in a month, its not exchange, its gouging(and that should be an affront)
Rest easy GBP earners. you are on any given day 30 +% ahead of any normal currency.
Euro/USD/GBP is closer, but you still have a huge advantage.
Taxes (VAT), postage, price gouging, .................all the same ......still, better than what we get down here.

When I visited London, I went to get a pizza from a chain store restaurant ..............I would want a lapdance from Monica Belluci thrown in for the cost(converted to $AUD) for that damn pizza.
Thats London for you. Most people from the rest of the UK think London prices are a rip off.
