Hi Jake
It surely is da cha vu
I was hoping we might start afresh, and not have to return to my earlier thread which was full of negative stuff.IE new brush. :D I am hopeful I can overcome many of the problems associated with going Large Scale? but it will only work with unbiased advice.Otherwise just end up down the a cul-de-sac again!

all the best Steve

Hi Iposter
many thanks for your reply ,I hope I did not give the impression that their will be low /no maintenance? I certainly did not intend to and was never in any doubt that their will be tasks to perform which I can do and with help the bigger stuff,Hopefully

all the best Steve

I dont know what it is with you,but you are intent on twisting things?
I said and I quote for the first and last time! I want the tank building or upgrading for me IE you takes your tank and have it fully built (by who ever ) then it comes to me the best it can be.
when it needs minor maintenance I will do it no problem, anything bigger my brother in law who is more than capable will lend a hand.

Its alright you saying we have being down this road before, but the road is the same and this time I am hoping to reach the end.Why do you insist on being so negative.I am aware by now of most of the obstacles, I am just trying to see if their is a way to make this work, your dismissal of my goal are very unhelpful. Steve

P.S: I am not the best writer in the world, but I can put my request more simply.
I am 90% looking for advice as to BEST RC Tank to buy 1/6 (not maintenance questions)
Once tank is chosen I am hoping any improvements which can be made or felt beneficial can be made by a custom Up grader for me ,so I receive the best tank I can get! I am refereeing to pre purchase upgrades/Modifications.Not post purchase, which should once here only be general maintenance tasks and occasional major work?for which I will receive help.

Hope that clarify s things a bit :|

Hello Again
I would not say you are unbiased? but we can beg to differ there.
I have always said Amortek and the like are not in the running.
Yes of course >Mark 1 are the main 1/6 option I was looking for unbiased advice on Mark 1 some of which you have given:but it is just one side.Nice to hear from folk who have actually owned them or upgraded. Not much to ask is it? then I can make the decision to buy or not ?

My other option which is a good possibility is from John @East Coast Armory He only has a Stuart which he will rebuild with all upgrades and mods. He is nice to deal with to.I just always fancied a Tiger, but if Mark 1 Tank is a bridge to far (for what ever reason?) then ECA might be a great option. ???
You keep saying you want the best tank you can get. What you really mean is you want the best you can get within a certain price bracket.
Of course it is.... as I explained from Day one AMORTEK e.t.c. were never really an option.I was just hoping a Mark 1 would allow me to buy a suitably upgraded tank which would do me for the few years I have left.

My expectations I feel are not unreasonable?
I can see my style of writing is not to your taste as you keep picking me up at every point.
I think I have made myself clear and by the way, I have actually not received as much positive feedback as you make out??
And no amount of unbiased advice (lots of which you have been given) is going to change that
cheers Steve

Hi Steve ,Armortek tanks are hard on tracks I have been told that they break the tracks because of the weight ,also for this reason the motors and gearboxes are under a lot of strain, That said if you buy a Armortek from them it comes in kit form and is an engineering challenge to build . the Mark one tanks are pre-built and checked by Mark come ready to run (need to detail them to your liking). Both tanks may break down just like the real thing, this is why I pointed out about getting a broken tank into the back of your car. Personally if money wasn't a problem and I could get one in my car ,I would pick the armortek just to build it (I like building things and making them work ) if you just want to run one and are not bothered about building one just have one to paint and detail then run go for the Mark one tank. Both tanks may break down you will need to know how to fix it , cant say either tank will be more reliable than the other. Both will need maintenance. Most of the 1/6 scale guys spend the winter striping the tank down and servicing them for the summer season to run them.If you want to run in snow I wouldn't buy a Tiger but would buy a T34 wider tracks to weight and should run well in snow something else to think about, Tigers don't like snow that much just like real ones you will get Ice build up between the wheels (trick is if you do run a Tiger in the snow leave it to cool down before you run it ,it reduces the build up of ice in the wheels found this out with 1/16 scale Tigers ).

 ;D Hello again Pete,
Really good to hear back from you, and yet more very good and useful advice especially re the snow loving T34.I did actually know the Tigers in real life did not enjoy snow and the T34 did much better!
I thank you for that.Armortek were never in the frame, for the obvious reasons IE Cost and building both off my Richter scale..Mores the pity.

If I can be assured the Mark 1 tanks will be reliable then fantastic we can look at one but if I did it would be a summer loving Tiger :haha:

As i said in the earlier reply the East Coat Armory STUART Rebuild/Upgrade is more of a possibility? But I have time to decide and of course find out more in Mark 1s as John at ECA is very busy.

Please keep the good stuff coming

Best wishes Steve

Hi The original Mark one electrics were a little un-reliable , but modern electrics are now a lot better once set up correctly ,its one of the upgrades you may have to fit ,I saw a T34 a few weeks ago the owner bought it new from Mark One tanks he has had it for 6 years and he said it has never let him down . It ran well and still looked good he only had to do regular servicing checking battery electrical terminals and lubrication for the running gear. See post here for electrics which ESC to have in your Tank http://www.uktank.org/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5722
Anything mechanical can break down its the same with electrics fitting the best electrics in a Mark One it should run well and give good service, but you have to look after it charging the battery to get the best from it is part of it. Also checking the mechanics over before and after running see if anything is loose or binding . I think any tank will run well if you keep up with the servicing but if you leave it for long periods with out checking and running it will start to have problems .

Good day Pete,
Really good of you to spare the time to help me, very grateful to you.You make very sensible points re-proper maintenance, seems quite straight forward, but expect the unexpected occasionally i suppose. Well it is certainly between Mark 1 Tiger with appropriate upgrades & East Coast Armory (Stuart) we will see how all this pans out, plenty of time

all the best Steve
