I bought one and sent it back:
The left hand track tried to dismount after travelling less than 2 feet
The speakers and Clark TK22 board sounded awful (not sure why I have another Tiger with the same board that sounds fantastic.
The quality of the moulding is poor generally.

I changed it for a Torro Tiger with TK 24 board for virtually the same money - a far better buy all round.

Can't comment on any other Mato....

I plan to have an all metal tank to display in my office. Metal looks mighty, you know. I would run it once a while when have time. Tiger I is one of the most famous tank during WWII, so it's my favorite. Looks like I don't have much choice I want an all metal tank. A Mato Tiger I RTR costs roughly $750 on taobao.com. What would you suggest?
Hi, Once it is painted you would not know if it were Metal or ABS and with a Taigen Metal Hull/Lower and a properly modded Heng Long Body/Upper It would not only look good but it would be far cheaper.
Shaun.

Guys, great ideas and suggestions. I think these save me $750 from a piece of junk. But then, what would be a good display for my office? This is roughly how I'm going to use the tank per week; 6 days on static display in office and 1 day running in the garden (I showed the garden with H/L PanTiger and H/L Leo2 before). Currently, the PanTiger mostly on static display on my home desk and the Leo2 is in break-down status because I couldn't figure out how to install the CS-TK16. It's been there at least half a year.

My Tiger sits in my office 5 days a week the board stops the metal tanks from scratching the wood.Image

It started life as the bargin basement Heng Long and now a year later there's very little of the original left. Looking back it would have been cheaper to buy an up market full option model but probably not as much fun.

Yeah, Heng Long is good for beginner to start with but after that you'll need something more professional which is what I'm looking for. I've already had two Heng Long, not so disappointed but they can no longer sastify me. A model mainly for display, I really need something looks high class. Running well is second requirement. If can have both at the same time with a reasonable cost, that would be fantastic. Let's make a scenario like this; you put a model on the display desk in your office and a guest comes in:
- Guest: What a tank! what is it made of?
- You: Plastic!
- Guest: Oh no! (disappointed)
Another scenario:
- Guest: What a tank! what is it made of?
- You: Metal!
- Guest: Vow! Very heavy, great! can it run?.... blah blah blah

Yes you have a point. Here's my scenario.
Package comes through the post, wife says 'Is that another little bit for your tank?'
I reply;'Yes darling it didn't cost much'
She says;'Oh that's cute'
Scenario 2.
Large and very heavy metal tank gets delivered.
Wife says;'What the ..... How much?!!! Are mad? Don't ever talk to me again. Blah blah blah.

If you're trying to impress someone with a metal tank, surely you'd be better off with an Aero-mate? If it's for your office, it'd be tax-deductable as a business expense! ;)

Very nice tank, wonder how it perform. However, today, I have placed an order for the Mato Panzer III. The deal price was roughly $700 for full package. It will arrive in 10 days.
