Good point on the Panther..yet the KT is a bit like a super Panther....improved suspension..wheel configuration and gearbox.. BUT that 700 hp engine with 75 tons still put too much strain on the transmission.

Well the Tank design with its sloping armour and wide tracks that set the shape of Tanks from then right up to today is the T34 it was also the Tank that was responsible for halting and reversing the progress of German armour in the East,
Yes I know about the KV1/2 but the T34 was produced in greater numbers than any other Tank in WW2 and was the only Tank to be re-turreted and up-gunned from a 2 man turret to a 3 man and from 75mm to 85mm Main gun.
Well it impresses me.
The Comet for finally teaching the British how to get the right relationship of Armour to Main Gun to Power,
The M4 Sherman, As Tanks go it was not that great, But The British Army could not have defeated Field Marshall Rommel in North Africa and by sheer numbers it overwhelmed the German armed forces in Europe.
So T34
M4 Sherman
Comet Cruiser.
Shaun.

My fav is the Churchill. ok the gun wasnt up to much when compared to the german guns, but the engine had loads of torque and was reliable. Its just very British... lol

The 1936 Renault R35 had sloped armor but the T 34 was really mass produced with it.

That's an understatement! They cranked out the T34 so fast I've seen pictures where the photographer had his hand through where the steel plates were slapped together. I had read the Soviet troops would get soaked inside of them when it would rain. Quality control not high on their list of things to do.

Has to be the Sherman. It had faults but was reliable and constantly improved on and there where tons of them built in all manner of different configurations. Without it the allies would have found it impossible to fight a ground war that involved a relentless push to victory from D Day.

For me it's the Jagdpanther- late war version
As for allied it's the JS 152,
Both not tanks per-Se but both very good at the job they were designed for.
Close second in German is the King Tiger.
Second Allied is the Comet

Good afternoon,
Put me down for the Tiger 1 for German armor with the Stug III a close second. For Allied armor, the magnificently obsolescent KV-IIA and America?, the Sherman M4A176(W)
regards,
Painless
