Ok, first thing is that this is a 2.4ghz transmitter/receiver. This means that there are no crystals, that info relates to old style analogue transmitters. You are ok to use the tx/rx you have bought, it will work fine.

First thing to check is that the receiver is bound to the transmitter. The tx instructions will explain how to do this, but if they aren't clear then find a video tutorial for this tx on You Tube, there are a few on there that show how to do it.

Ok, now the tx is talking to the rx.

Next step is to check that the receiver plugs are on the correct channels. The easiest way to get the correct connections is to wait for a Tamiya owner to pop into this thread and tell you what they are. In the meantime check that the trims are centred and try again.

Ha ha ha ha. I'm an idiot! Thank you all for your help and suggestions, I got it going tonight and have shot the cat! It seems the problem was I had plugged all the channel plugs in the wrong way round! In fairness there is no direction as to which direction they plug in and as a newbie I had no idea! Still its great fun

Glad you got it sorted, the receiver plugs are always confusing when anyone is new to RC, so you are not alone.
