How is the boom extended and retracted? Using a linear servo?

Don't know how to do that at the moment .... I have a couple of ideas including lego hydraulics
may be a motor and screw inside the main jib body is another option as I feel a liner servo will not have the reach ..the jib extends almost 5 inches ( 100mm )

Hi all

2 may update and that god for bank holiday weekends ..peace and quiet there and I sat on my big fat bum and hammered the plastic card ... in between copious amount of coffee . Looking at pictures ..measuring glueing .. which means I've gotten a lot further ahead ..how fab .. now all I need is a bif packed of Haribo for a sugar rush ....

So a series of pics .. starting with the jib ... still working out how to power this .. I have a few ideas now and as such I done need to strip down the jib which I am really happy at .. loads of time spent working out its bit of kit ., lots of angles on this and detail .. and more detail to be added ..like weld seams ..brackets and top of the jib detail ... I guess another 6 or 7 hours work ..before paint and power ... pics below

The dozer blade .. it's it as complicated as it look ! ..just lots of angles to get exactly right .. and again fully articulated ..and yes it will be powered ..once I've got it right in the build stage .. once again the devil is in the detail on this ... and many hours spent looking at detail pictures working out how and what order to build .. ..

As you can all see I have a chassis ,. And removed the hull top ..done nothing to the hull top yet ..the plan is to build all the ancillary parts first ..the start the hull build ,. The hull superstructure looks simple ..but again it's all the added storage boxes .. the detail .. and a shed load of patients ...

Any way ..pics time ...as u all know I can rabbit for far to long ...
