On the Matos's above there's a little grub screw holding the motor pinion, seems to just be primarily the brass GB's which have these. Happy with the speed and torque, wouldn't want to put more power through it. Only running 60% power through the board and it spools up really nice, easily maintains an ultra slow creep. Not tried it with the alternative last pinion setting yet. But the one it's on at the moment is the slower of the 2. I think I'll stick with it.

The Mato's are obviously the long shaft variants, but like you I've started a Pz3 build and installed Asiatams version of the Mato's -->



I've ran them on a stand and their really smooth and quiet, but i havent got tracks on it yet so they haven't been put under any stress but the gearing looks identical to the Mato's, so they'll be good for giving a realistic scaled speed

I have one of those asiatams gearbox for my PIV, but my gears are made of steel. I have not tested yet due to I have not tracks (Just bought the tracks today, lol) but they make A LOT of noise. Thats why most people preffers the brass ones like yours.

For my PIII Im planning to buy an install gearboxes like the first ones you posted, just because they allow me to install bigger motors. That is important for me due to I run my Panzer III in the garden and over mud, so I need more speed and torque than the small asiatam motors can provide.

Just another question: I have seen you are using an IBU2 Board, but it seems you have some kind of resistor over the SD card. Why is that?

Tankbear's your man for IBU2 related queries. I'm happy with the stock motors with the P3's Asiatams, it's doubtful i'll be going cross-country with it. But yeah the brass gearboxes are noticeably quieter than the steel variants, hopefully with a bit of care they'll last just as long

Interestingly the original stock GB's in the JT have worked moderately hard almost every day for 2 months with zero signs of wear, all pinions still sharp. I think the regular use of moly grease had a lot to do with it.

Hi Rad you mean this



It’s an updated fuse. The 2A SMD service fuse has now been replaced with this disc which is actually a self-resetting fuse on the Latest IBU2.

IBU3 technology filtering down to the IBU2
