That's an odd looking critter isn't it? I did a quick search and found it, wierd.

I have seen a number of these so-called Jagdsturmtiger paperpanzers with variations of the mantlet and cannon, but all very interesting if not a little awkward looking. It's so ugly it's actually good looking in it's own way.

Here's one that has a variation of the Jagdpanzer IV mantlet:

Surprisingly, after a little hunting and pecking, I have located the full Asiatam Jagdsturmtiger kit through a Japanese company:

A bit pricey, but as you pointed out, it contains the necessary roof parts for a "correct" Jagdsturmtiger. But, I agree, Tom's solution is a good one, arguably better looking, and probably cheaper overall to complete.

What would your recommendation be for the most adaptable upper and lower Tiger hull using the Asiatam kit?

Personally I would use the taigen metal chassis and plastic top as it gives you the option of using the late steel wheels cheaply. Using the Tamiya chassis as I have meant I had to use the hentec steel wheels which are something like 250 euros!

That's exactly what I did. Asiatam metal superstructure mated to a plastic Tiger I upper with a Taigen Late Tiger I metal chassis/wheels/tracks, 400 Promax motors with brass gearbox, Clark Tk-22 Tiger board and a TARR smoker.

I'm going to take a slightly different approach and modify the Imex/Torro Sturmtiger, and while I know a lot of you will frown at this (and some will smile) I plan to keep it airsoft. They have a rather neat airsoft unit for this tank that includes elevation and traverse that could be easily converted to servo operation, if I can muster the skills. But, with some help from the huge talent here I just may pull it off. If i ever get around to it. Right now it's at least a year away on the "to-build" list.

This project is still in its infancy as I only ordered the "kit" yesterday from Japan. I'd like to find the Torro/Taigen deck and chassis set up as a unit somewhere rather than to have to purchase the parts piecemeal, and that will be key as to how fast this project moves forward. I hope you'll post your own build of this beast here. It'll be motivation for me to get cracking.

Look forward to seeing what you do Ralph! It's one of those projects you have a bit of licence with to do some wacky stuff without anyone getting to rivety
