If you are interested enough in Tigers that you want a mid, I'd suggest you pick up the Jentz book. It's still in print and has been around long enough that you should be able to find it pretty cheap, maybe even the library.
It has a wealth of information you'll love, plus a chart explaining all the changes over it's lifetime by date.

Re: Difference early and mid tiger 1
Even Tamiya's Static early Tiger 1 does not have the correct rear fenders and Exhaust shrouds for a Tunisian Tiger although the air cleaners which are available from axel's on "K" sprue are the right one's and I have yet to see a WSN/HOBBYBOSS Tiger 1 early that comes close to TAMIYA'S,
They all fail to include the second pistol port on the turret and none of them have the commanders sighting bar on the top of the Mantlet, and the list goes on, and lastly given the price of a Static Early Tamiya Tiger 1 assuming you can find one would be prohibitive especially as it is not R/C or motorised and the same goes for the WSN/HOBBYBOSS,
Why would you spend £200 on a Tank when you only want the body ? I can get a HENG LONG Tiger 1 body for less than £15 and happily spend the savings on a "K" Sprue and an ABER or VOYAGER PE set and modify that. Although ABER do make a full early PE set but it costs more than £300 but it includes everything.
The closest to an accurate Early Tunisian Tiger that I know of is a 1/35 kit on sale from a Japanese website by a Chinese company called RYE FIELD which David Byden reviewed and he pointed out a number of failings on that!!

To much work and not enough skills,(yet)' but as I said maybe one for the future,and at the momant I can only sit upright in a chair for ten mins before the pain sets in,but maybe when the surgeons have mended the problem I can sit for hours and have ago at some scratch work ,which would be nice, Andy

If you don't fancy cobbling together mid tiger, I had completely forgot but rctank.de have done one RTR with a new upper which might be up your street.

Andy In my life there are few things of which I am truly proud.
Meeting and then being fortunate enough to share my life with my Lady,
Fathering Clare and Sarah and to a slightly lesser degree
finally finishing Tiger 813 in as accurate a build that I could manage and it only took 2 1/2 years
(The Tiger build that is
)
I know you are going through hell right now but the regiment taught us some tricks on how to control pain when something unwanted occurred. It might be on "GOOGLE" if you look it up.

Tamiya did release a limited edition initial production Tiger, but it sold out almost immediately. I did order one but I was sent the standard Tiger. Was most displeased.jarndice wrote:Even Tamiya's Static early Tiger 1 does not have the correct rear fenders and Exhaust shrouds for a Tunisian Tiger although the air cleaners which are available from axel's on "K" sprue are the right one's and I have yet to see a WSN/HOBBYBOSS Tiger 1 early that comes close to TAMIYA'S,
