Noticed the pic of the real thing you posted seems to have sand colored spare fuel drums on the rear. Will you be doing that ???

I see. Makes sense. A black or even dark green tank get dust covered pretty fast on its rear end from its own rooster tail of dust if run at speed on well used tank trails for very long.

Yea black or dark green would make a good starting point for camo without actually having to paint on the camo.
If you look at some of the pics of Abrams in Iraq that arrived in NATO camo many were quickly covered with so much sand dust that its hard to tell if they were ever painted anything but sand.

The majority of British vehicles are now overall green, it's now down unit level for camo

So individual units get to apply camo of any kind if they want or is there a directive they must follow if applying camo.

Similar to US Army. Back when men were men and warily eyed each other with nukes across the Inter-German Border, tanks were sent to Europe in all green and the crews would paint it in the appropriate MERDC scheme or whatever was fashionable at the time. It was expected though that when the Cold War turn hot that there'd be a plain jane green painted vehicles as painting these up would be the furthest thing in the minds of the crews as they raced to Fulda....

atc, when I was there everything was dark green with no thought given to camo by us or the enemy even right on the border with east Germany (early 70's).

Simon a third black would make sense in European war scenarios.
