Max-U52 wrote:Definitely the 4 shaft ball bearing steel gearboxes. I put those in my Panther G and my King Tiger (and all my Tigers, and the PzIV, and everywhere else I can fit them) and it made a noticeable difference in both. As for electronics, I have an IBU2 in my Jagdpanther, but i have an Asp on the way that's slated for the new Panther F that I don't have yet, so I'm thinking about putting the Asp in the Panther G until the F comes out.

Do you still have the Taigen lower hull or the metal lower like they sell at rctank.de? My G is the plastic hull, but it's one of my best running tanks. Here's a video from when i first put four shaft GBs in it. I have an extra track link on each side, but it just seems to run better that way. I know I need to eventually get a hentec for it so I can properly adjust the tracks, but til then it seems to run just great the way it is.

Hi, I have the plastic lower hull, yes, but I have tried the extra link on each side shortly after I got the tank, but, for me at least, it seemed too baggy, but maybe once I have a better set of gearboxes I will give it another go :D

Axels is a great idea as is RCtanks.DE for accessories for your Taigen Panther G. Upgraded tow cable mounts and spare track mounts, mantlet kits and decals for the extinguisher are just the start. Good luck and following along:

Painless, what colour paint did you use for those track hangers? :D

The best in the UK.
Sorry for the triple post, I was having trouble posting and this way it worked aha Anyway, Ive seen a few gearboxes on ForgeBear's eBay site, Walterson 5:1 and Mato 4:1, I really don't know which would be best, I'm really after that slow tank movement, and a good amount of torque at low speed to get up inclines, my stock 3:1's struggle on small incline on the lawn :haha:

Painless, I've just come across your thread of your Panther build, it is excellent, and some good ideas I might incorporate! But, if you do excuse my laziness, I'm certain our stock paint job is very similar in colour, was wondering what other paints you had handy to paint all the parts you added?

Good afternoon,
I left the Taigen airbrush job intact on my Panther because at the time, it was one of the best I and others on the forum had seen on an out of the box tank. Most of the paints I used on that build are Model Masters Enamel flats. They matched up perfectly when doing painted details to the airbrushed paint. Colors were the Dunkelgelb as noted and Rotbraun and Olivegrun. MG metallic paint was Tamiya Gunmetal and the tank was finished off with Tamiya weathering compacts and two coats of Model Masters rattlecan Clear Flat.

I don't know where to get them in the UK, but these are what ya want.

And you can read more about them here

http://www.imex-model.com/product/TAG14 ... tml?cid=90

I've got these in my Panther G, my King Tiger, the 48mm shaft version in the PzIV, plus the 3 shaft GBs I just put in the M-41, and several Tiger 1s and I haven't had any problems at all. If I can get brass dual ratio GBs I'll choose those every time, but these are the next best thing.
