Barry, since you have so much elevation I reckon that the GA-250 gyro will work pretty well on your M1. You can get it from HobbyKing for something like $12 USD. I have a spare one but it will probably be cheaper for you to buy it direct from them.

I was quite encourage with the elevation and could imagine if I have the right terrain (i.e. ups and downs) it will look pretty cool. There is no additional wiring, you just need to mount the gyro, and then hook it up in between the elevation servo and the receiver. You will need another channel to turn the gyro on and off. When it is off it just acts as a pass thru.

Hi Michael,

I like what I see and again appreciate your taking the time to help me.

Looking at the connections it appears it will only handle a single servo. Would I need one for elevation and one for traverse function?

Cheers,
Barry

Barry, yeah, GA-250 only has one servo output control as it is really meant for Heli rudder. I have one on the lower hull of the Leo levelled with the ground, that controls the elevation. Another one is mounted just inside the turret bottom and is for rotational locking. The GA-250 calibrate itself when you turn it on so it is important that it is leveled and the turret is stationary. Once it is calibrated you can turn it on and off whenever you want. When it is off it acts as a pass-thru, so all you elevation and traverse signal goes thru unchanged. Once its turn on it will lock the angle and compensate when the tank is off that single plane.

It really is just horizontal and vertical plane locking essentially.

Michael,

Sounds pretty straight forward. If I mount the elevation unit at the center of the tank then it should be fairly stable. A properly weighted tank will further reduce unwanted bounce. I think I am going to give it a go.

Thanks,
Barry
