I note the basic kit pans out at a mere 155 euros; but expect savings could be had given a smidgin of expert knowledge on which parts are roughly interchangeable from other models, or can at least which lend themselves to modification as you suggest (e.g. Panther and Tiger parts almost intersect..). I'll check your topic ref out from the annals..Roy.
Roy, I have started off trying to keep the cost down, so the initial parts were as follows:

- Ludwig kit with 17 pdr barrel and the metal return rollers : 200 euro
- Heng Long T34 lower : $100 euro (I have to buy a new tank but I re-use the upper)
- Spare Heng Long Leo II plastic road wheels/Pz III sprockets/ZTZ idlers: 50 euro if you have to buy them.
- Plastic PZ III tracks - 20 euro
- Low profile gearbox (I couldn't re-use the gearbox from the T34 as it is not low profile) - 50 euro

So I guess my cost on paper is 420 euro, but after my first battle day with it I realized the tank was too light. At the same time, I also acquire a new Leo II metal lower that comes with its own road wheels, so I ended up using the old metal HL Leo road wheels on the Comet.

Additional cost

- Heng Long Leo metal road wheels - 80 euro
- Heng Long Pz III metal tracks - 60 euro
- Heng Long Pz IV Late metal sprockets - 20 euro

So my final cost is just under 600 euro, but the real cost is about 500 euro since I have some spare parts lying round, and this is only because I have some spare parts anyway. It is fine as is with the plastic parts I used initially. The T34 plastic suspension arms need some trimming to get the plastic Leo wheels to fit, and when I switched to the metal road wheels it actually works without mod with the T34 metal swing arms.

I am not a rivet counter but just want to get something that looks the part and this is more than sufficient for me. Unique as hell and definitely not another one in the club.

I would have a fairly long list :haha:

I think number 1 would be a Maus 1/8 scale. Be curious to see how big it would be and would be easy to airbrush due to the big flat sides :D

Other ones which would be nice to have in a collection.

US T95 supergun
E100 prototype
TOG II similar to the one at the Bovington Tank Museum
M10 Wolverine
Jagdpanzer 38t Hetzer

And Craig I totally agree with the T95 and the M10. There's a scratchbuilt T95 out there that's awesome. Made me green. Mato is promising an M10.

atcttge, I think Nancy's gonna be OK. I'll know more tomorrow when the bloodwork comes back, but it's lookin' good. Then I can go back to wastin' all my money on tanks. @)

Thanks for the analysis, Michael (and people have often said that I need analysis!..). That figure is less than I paid lately for my rctank.de King Tiger. Thus it's feasible. Also, somewhere on here I also saw in passing, a new all- metal Leo chassis with brushless motors, I think. It looked so good, like something out of the Bauhaus, you'd almost need to mount a transparent upper hull on it!

Yep, it was the DKLM Leo full metal chassis, with brushless motors in a piece posted by DNAR. Now that bit of kit really caught me eye...

DKLM is Carson Law, I've done business with him a couple times and found him to be honest and reliable. He's also a tanker and is active on RCU.

43, that's how I got the spare Heng Long metal road wheels for my Comet, as I can't use them on the DKLM Leo metal lower. I actually had the very first one that Carson used to show it off....... My brother happened to be travelling and personally delivered it from Carson to me.........

Don't think the motors are brushless. They are pretty impressive though, I think 550s ???

If you check out another thread, there is some discussion about possibly sealing the gearbox (It is an enclosed gearbox) and put motor oil in it like the real thing..........
