pale, the Heng Long Pershing front idlers is actually linked to the first road wheel via suspension arms and not mounted separately on to the hull, so I doubt that you can fit a Hentec tensioner on it. In fact that's the only reason why this mod to M48 work, if there was a mount point on the hull of the Pershing for the idlers than you would not be able to keep the boat shape bottom of the M48.
Got ya. When I had my Super Pershing, I was disappointed with the fact that I could not run a tensioner on it. I wonder if there is an upgrade for the idler that actually works.

Pale,
Did you ever order the metal idler upgrade for the Pershing from Tank Army in Australia? They have complete sets of very nice running gear for that tank. I used the metal idlers and front road wheels on my Pershing redo and they turned out great!

There is a working tensioner on those. It uses the springs for the front road wheel attached to it and works just like the original on the rl Pershing. Pretty cool piece of design work. ;o) I run my tracks a little slack on my Korean war Pershing and never have an issue with over run.

Hmmm..... Never thought of it as track tensioners until you described it this way Painless. Interesting. I always think of it like the Elephant's twin boggies, one pushing up and one pushing down on opposing force, but I guess it becomes a tensioner when one of them is the idler........

I learned a lot taking apart a 10 year old HL Pershing and 'modernizing' it with current HL and Tamiya parts. Adjusted my thinking as folks say. ;o)

What ever you think would be crucial, would be most welcomed. I appreciate the time to take the shots. I am curious about the recoil and elevation set up mostly. The other pictures you have posted will be a big help as well.
