There is no need to, it's the gears further down the drive train which are under the most stress. The hybrid of gears is strong and quiet.

Hi Steelbird, like Tom says there's no need for an all metal gearbox. its the final drives that go after a while.

Now Iv'e run the tank I can confirm they are quiet and the tank seems fairly unstoppable

I have managed to apply a fresh set of decals, and give the tank an all over spray of ts80 flat clear.

I have bought the AK NATO weathering set, has anyone used this who could offer some tips on how to get the best out of it?

Really looks great in the natural environment. That turret does look tight. Nice job.

Thanks Palepainter, I like to take them outside for a pic if I can, where I live is totally flat and kind of bleak so it suits a tank.

The turrets a real work of art by Tamiya, very complex and certainly a tight squeeze.

I never weathered my Leo2 before I sold it but wished I had I later weathered the first Leo and it turned out better

I have to say this tank is good fun to drive, the big motors give it enough power to climb over most things
