Yes, SIR, Brigadier.

Happy to have your back when the overworked intellect misses the occasional small item.
You're absolutely right about shipping and impracticality. That's why it took me so long to get the pinions I needed for a very good set of GBs, I refused to pay $35 shipping for two $2 pinions!
Does anyone know Kizwan at RCU? Isn't he in Malaysia? I'll bet he could help.

You know Max...at this point of my life...I try my best to just take things in stride ...especially with RC tankery....the hobby should make all that participate ...smile and relax ...life is too short to attempt to please everyone

There has to be distributors close to where you are...have you tried checking RC car shops...I do recall a few posters here way back when I first joined that had modified and built their own tank gearboxes...pretty cool stuff...unfortunately...searching for those posts might be a journey into tedium...as if you use the word gearbox....you will get every post that has mention of that key word

Yeah, Alpha, one of the things I don't like about all this internet stuff is I can't hear tone of voice, and my tone of voice can't be heard by others. That makes it a lot more difficult for me to tell when someone is kidding around or when they're serious (body language would also be a big help), so I try to always be "not too serious" and just cruise along, ya know? It's all in fun, right?
As for the pinions, I looked EVERYwhere with no joy (I was even going to make them myself, I DO run a gear shop, after all, but we didn't have the right cutter and rentals are expensive), so I just waited until I needed something from that vendor that would justify the outrageous shipping and tacked the pinions on that order. They didn't weigh enough to increase shipping costs for the item I was purchasing so all ended well, and that was when I bought the Opel Blitz so that was an extra bonus.

Thanks for the help from all of you guys out there! Really appreciate it.
I actually got a new transmitter through a local RC shop vendor for about 21USD only...
Thanks again.

So true there Max...another factor is time between responses ....face to face...everything is right there...the convo continues with more unity (for lack of a better term)...on any board a lot of times others with different points of view might interject themselves into a convo meant for someone else...unfortunately that's the way things go... it's better to just be aware...wear a thick skin and laugh things off

Have any connections with a local Com College

....sometimes depending on work loads...some instructors will accept outside requests...the costs are usually pretty low...mostly in the way of a donation towards materials or a general fund for projects that particular class might have

Good for you...that's a pretty fair price for a new one

PS. Keep your old one...you can use it for parts...or take it apart to get more familiar with the workings

Yes,
definitely keep the old one. NEVER throw away parts! I keep everything and it always comes in handy eventually. Even a fried RX-18 contains resistors you can use with a clark board, and even the case itself can be repurposed to hold a TK22. Fits like they were made for each other! As for the TX, you can turn the battery box into a portable power supply, it has good LEDs and switches, and tons of other stuff you'll most likely need one day.
Alpha, I'll keep the college tip in mind, we do have one locally, but for these pinions I already got them and made sure to get two extra pairs at the same time. They're for the asiatam brass gear boxes, the ones I love so much that are so hard to find, so spare parts will be carefully hoarded.

LOL...That's the appropriate term for those of us who store parts

....but yes indeed Comm Colleges have some nice perks to offer...the students need the practice...and if you know an instructor...he might let you use the equipment they have as well...used to get some tig work done all the time back in the day
