In my military capacity I indulged in "Freefall Jumping" and whilst serving and now as a civilian I enjoy "Scuba Diving" What does your Mr Hemingway say about those "Sports" Kids games perhaps? He should try getting insurance cover before making that statement.
And if you were running toward the touch line with the ball tucked firmly under your arm with 15 very large and fast members of the opposing side chasing and closing down on you with but one thought in their collective mind how big a wimp does that make you if you CHOOSE to do that every Sunday afternoon? For that is "Rugby Union"
I would not recommend that "Sport" to a 5 year old.

Shaun, LOL! Only teasing sir not trying to cause trouble or belittle you guys past time or what you enjoy.

Not sure scuba diving nor parachuting would be sports rather extreme sports. Much like hang gliding, base jumping, wing suits and the like.

As for me placing a ball under and running towards a line such as those depicted I've already done much worse however I was an M16 tucked in my arm and ran head long towards bad guys with AK47's tucked under theirs. Not to mention driving a modified HEMMIT at over 80mph across large open fields with more bad guys in tanks in the area all wanting to stop said HEMMIT. Been there, done that, has t-shirts.

Great if you follow Rugby League, but with no wish to upset anyone this is really only second best to a southerner.
In truth a discipline I never followed with much enthusiasm.
JACKALOPE I have no intention of trying to explain the differences between Rugby League and Rugby Union.

Ohhhhh, ok. I don't bother with sports, been into racing since I was a kid everything else is boring to me.

Motorsport is a very wide subject, with Moto GP and World superbike then there is Motocross and not forgetting Speedway---Ohh you were not referring to four wheeled racing were you?.
One of the things that appears to draw us together on this Forum is the number of "Bikers," I still ride a naked 1200 Bandit simply because there is not much out there that compares in simple all round ability,
Although "Bandits" remind me of HENG LONG Tanks, as soon as you get it you start modding it with stuff like single seat cowls, steel brake lines, a decent after market exhaust system(Akropovik), a belly pan and an automatic chain oiler and lots more, like a pair of "Givi boxes"
I have never seen a "Bandit" more than six months old that looks standard.
That's the trouble with Bikers once they start you can't stop them.

Hang gliding is perfectly safe. It's the sudden stop at the end that smarts! Physio grounded me as my knees won't take the heavier landings. Scuba diving is much more relaxing, it's just lugging 70 lbs of kit around on a moving boat that's hard.
Insurance for both (kit, third party and search & rescue) is pretty easy to get, just need to get out and get wet again.

Hi Rob, I tried "Parascending" ONCE!!! as you say it plays hell with the knees not least because of having to run behind a Land Rover towing you down the runway before enough lift had been generated to get you aloft.
I know that these days you stand on the back of the truck and get lifted into the air but this was in the very early days of the hobby.
I always enjoyed parachuting with that one exception.
I am pleased you can get insurance cover, I suspect my difficulty is where I have to declare any existing medical conditions,
How about a rebuilt right leg caused by a parachute opening at 80 feet above the ground.

I would have loved a bike but my dad was a police officer and we heard all the horror stories of how bad they are and admittedly with traffic as bad as it us around here id be dead by now I'm sure.

But what I find to be a blast is to race guys on bikes in my car. Running mI'd 12's in a 1/4 mile means that all but the big bikes can REALLY run away from me. And with a top speed in the 160-170mph range all the the bravest on the open road beat me.
