These damn return roller mounts have proved the most annoying on a III yet.
Tore most of them out of the hull. Glue zombie in H/L used the last shift to move some stock :/
So, filled in the odd graduated slot on the left side, drilled out the locators for the metal return roller mounts, and began the track tensioner fit out.

This is going to be a combination of many pictured vehicles, with the object- war weary.
Seems the standard type of machine went out with the short guns !
Appears they were let to run wild in the field doing whatever it took to keep in the fight.
Almost the U-Boat stars of armour ;)
Irregular, inovative but disciplined & tough.
Ah...Ok...so it's a Herman "original"... :D ...so as an example ...maybe run mix and match Panzer IV and III sprockets

Well its going to be some sort of original anyway !!

Fitted the tensioners, and the return roller mounts.
Got my steel gear box's ultra quick from Ozarmour, so I can carry on there.
Also had a feeling it needed zimmerit. The waffle type pattern. So I made a print tool out of a bit of dowel. Painted the end in clear varnish & gave it a run. As I dont have miliput, tamiya putty will have to do.
The result is ok, but reflects a very rough job. Probably even to rough for factories working under pressure as well as bombing :haha:
But, it will do.

The idea was actually the wifes for the stamp. I just went & made it !
Did the other side, a lot more uniform.

New metal suspension arms and inner rollers fitted up. Also whipped up a brass bar to retain the T34 track armour on the lower glacis plate.
Drilled 1mm holes in each end thru the plastic hull into the gearbox compartment & dosed up some dress making pins with gel super glue for added strength.I can use either German tracks or T34 ones as the bar will accept both.
Once my new metal rear valance & muffler set arrives along with the 2.4Gig radio hardware I can complete the lower hull.
