ACK! I thought that was your tank. ISTR seeing a similar setup in one of your PMs before. Thanks for the links!

Is connecting the servo to the IBU2 Pro require some electrical voodoo skills like soldering or programming and such? Or I just plug it in the board and that's it?

Connection to IBU2 Pro is as simple as plugging into the correct port. There is some settings in the setup file where you can then select if it is a continuous or not servo. servo direction and also speed i.e. fast for modern and slow for WW2 tanks.

For the traverse I use SM4303 (think that's right code from memory). Elevation I just use a regular micro servo, but if you've a long heavy barrel then a bigger servo might be better.

Ian.

I've checked and it's SM4306 360 servos I use.

Thanks Tankbear! I can't wait to get the funds for the IBU2 Pro package and TPA package! :D I hope installing the upgraded electronics will be painless and trouble free. :D

Guys, another question:

In HL, there is this big spring inside the turret that helps keep the gun in place going up and down. Since I'm replacing the gun elevation unit with a servo, do I still need the spring?

No the spring keeps the unit in contact with the ramp on the elevation unit so not needed with servo.

Nice! Thanks for that info Tankbear. :)

Michael: I just realized your photos are that of your ZTZ. The green colour told me "Leo2." Ooops.... And finally I found your thread which is very informative - YAY! :) viewtopic.php?f=38&t=14737

Anyway, on servos again, apparently there are different servos with different RPM and torque ratings. All of that fly over my head and so I wouldn't know what to look out for. That said, what would be a decent range of RPM and torque rating for a mini servo for gun elevation and regular-sized servo for turret traverse?

Hi guys, I ask again: wot is a decent range of RPM an torque rating for a mini servo for barrel elevation and standard size servo for turret traverse in the M1?
